Forget the old model of the same name, this 2020 latest one boasts an all-new platform, all-new interior, and all-new fight on its hands. This one very much takes the fight to the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus at an extremely affordable price. Also coming with this model is Peugeot’s 5 Year warranty & a 3-year service package also this car needs is a new owner!
The latest 308 Engine is 140kg lighter than the old one, is lower and wider than before, and has a slightly longer wheelbase. That translates into a car that rides supremely well. This 308 is extremely comfortable, cossetting, and refined. The NVH has been suitably buttoned down and it remains an exceptional settled everyday drive on the road. Figures of 163 bhp & 240Nm of torque come from the punchy 1.6L turbocharged engine and is mated to an automatic 6-speed transmission.
Here is where it gets interesting, the big news is how Peugeot has binned practically all the interior buttons from the last 308’s centre console, and in its place fitted a new 9.7in touchscreen which handles everything you will need, air-con, sat nav, media and so forth and it adds a welcome dash of ‘posh’ to the interior ambience. Same goes with the dials (the rev counter revs counter-clockwise which is cool). Overall though a great package on the inside.
