Honda<\/a> enters its tenth generation this year gracing the roads with a sedan, a coupe, a hatchback\u00a0and the incredibly quick type R hatchback. With a new coupe concept being unveiled early this year at the New York Auto Show it turned a head or two.<\/p>\n

\"Honda-Civic-Concept-6\"<\/a>First off all the new coupe just looks like a smaller version of the Accord<\/a> coupe, which is not a bad thing. With its lime green exterior (a paint option on the production model) grabs your attention immediately, it’s clear Honda have made it more sportier than the outgoing model. At the back\u00a0of the concept there are LED lights which stretch from one side of the car to the other. Fingers crossed they make it into the production model, testing models have been spotted in the wild, but were decorated in with the confusing black and white swirl pattern.<\/p>\n

Spy shots of the sedan reveal\u00a0the boot has been shortened, with rear LED lights now making their way to the edges of the rear spoiler. The windshield appears to have been pulled back further behind the front axle to give a more straightened\u00a0windshield design. Again covered by those silly swirls its hard to determine its\u00a0new looks.<\/p>\n

\"Honda-Civic-Concept-5\"<\/a>Inside, everything stays in the same place, however Honda has gotten rid of the two-storey instrument panel(s) and combined the two into a single unit behind the steering wheel. Touch sensitive\u00a0buttons have been replaced with physical dials and buttons in the centre console alongside the revised touchscreen infotainment system.<\/p>\n

Multiple engine units will be available, one being a turbocharged four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine with VTEC variable valve timing rated at 167 horsepower with 259 Nm of torque. The other is a 2-litre VTEC naturally aspirated engine producing 165 horsepower and 197 Nm of torque. Civic Type R’s will carry a 2-litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine rated at 300+ horsepower and a top speed of 270 km\/h. The standard gearbox will be a continuously variable\u00a0transmission with a six-speed manual as an option except in the Type-R where\u00a0the only option is manual.<\/p>\n

Besides changes made to the Civic family, Honda has axed the Accord plug-in hybrid scheduled to launch in early 2016,\u00a0however plans are in place to bring a new Honda Accord hybrid by 2018.<\/p>\n
