2010 was the last time Dodge<\/a> Viper ACR’s were built. Fast forward to 2014, a concept of an ACR was shown off and now, 2 years later Dodge has confirmed it’s rolling onto showroom floors. And it’s looking even more menacing than before, sure to wrap itself around it’s rivals. Viper’s have always been vicious and don’t expect this one to be any different.<\/p>\n

\"2016<\/a>It sits at the highest level of the trim ladder, followed by GTS, GTC and the entry-level SRT. It features coil-over Bilstein racing shocks, a huge rear spoiler, specially\u00a0built carbon ceramic brakes, an aerodynamic kit delivering almost 1 tonne of peak downforce at high speed and so much more. All this allows the ACR to lap a racetrack quicker than any other street-legal Viper.<\/p>\n

\"2016<\/a>Underneath the hood is a thirsty 8.4 litre, 10 cylinder petrol engine which churns out 645 horsepower, an increase 5 hp from the previous model. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, which is the only type\u00a0available, power is sent to the rear wheels. Other models are also\u00a0powered by the same massive engine. The Viper\u00a0redies on\u00a0custom 19-inch Kuhmo performance tyres with small grooves cut into the slicks to make them street legal with ACR embossed on the outer layer.<\/p>\n

\"2016<\/a>Inside,\u00a0all we’ve got to go by are computer generated images which show the interior featuring\u00a0cruise, launch and traction buttons\u00a0placed in carbon fibre with a button for keyless start just below the instrument panel. Seats appear to be covered in leather and alcantara. Lots more carbon fibre can be found inside and ACR badges aren’t limited to the exterior with one being found next to the passengers air-con vent.<\/p>\n

\"2016<\/a>Embedded in highly durable fibre is the touchscreen infotainment system in the centre console with useful applications such as telemetry data, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and more of the dashboard instrument panel. An interesting app to note is Timers as drivers can record there 0-100 km\/h, quarter mile drag and brake distance times.<\/p>\n

Each Dodge Viper is hand built including the engine. As for Viper’s 1of1 program, it is not mentioned if this will be applicable to the ACR, however it looks great sporting a silver paint scheme with one thick black stripe and one thin red stripe running down the middle of the car. Other colours and variations may be available outside the program.<\/p>\n

Dodge Viper ACR production starts later this year, expect them to slither into showrooms sometime next year.<\/p>\n
