Last we heard<\/a>, the Maybach 4×4 was certainly in the pipeline and that it would arrive sometime within the next few years. It appears it will be here a lot sooner than that, and it will use the underpinnings of the luxurious Mercedes-Benz GLS-series.<\/p>\n

Launching in 2019, the Maybach 4×4 has its sight set on the Bentley Bentayga, BMW X7<\/a>, Rolls Royce Cullinan and Lamborghini Urus.<\/p>\n

Usually, its donor vehicle can carry up to seven occupants at any given time. However, the Maybach 4×4 is more than likely to remove three of those seats to provide owners that executive\u00a0feel much like its rivals have. A five-seater\u00a0option is said to be considered as of now.<\/p>\n

Although the upcoming SUV borrows body panels here and there from the GLS-Series, it will feature its own distinct\u00a0markings. The unmistakable Maybach front grille, additional\u00a0chrome, unique rim designs, correct badging and a fine selection of hand picked paint schemes.<\/p>\n

Powering the behemoth is said to be a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 motor mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox powering all four wheels. However, if you need those extra four cylinders that are present in select Maybach models, there us a chance the V12 6-litre twin turbo will return as well.<\/p>\n

4Matic All-Wheel drive is standard along with Air Body Control air suspension plus there are rumours\u00a0the Maybach 4×4 could receive\u00a0a hybrid powertrain somewhere in its life cycle.<\/p>\n
