By now, you may have heard of the Aston Martin AM-RB 001<\/a> hypercar with its pitch-perfect 1 to 1 power to weight ratio. If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, this is the start of the next generation of supercars.<\/p>\n

The British brand has officially\u00a0dropped the hard-to-remember\u00a0acronym AM-RB 001 and rebranded the vehicle as Valkyrie. The name traces back to Norse mythology where the name was given to select individuals who would decide who perish in battle and those who shall continue.<\/p>\n

A rather fitting name for such a beast that is ready to the throne from the Ferrari LaFerrai, Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, Aston Martin is not the only ones constructing a ‘legend’ killer as Mercedes-AMG are also working on their beast<\/a> with a with a smaller 1.6-litre V6 motor powering the rear wheels.<\/p>\n

Aston Martin has officially\u00a0confirmed the power unit mounted behind the seats. A naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine borrowed from the legendary Cosworth. A whopping 900 horsepower throttles its way to the rear end.<\/p>\n

As well as just the petrol unit, an F1-style energy recovery system hides under the Valkyrie’s skin which includes batteries\u00a0sourced Rimac who in turn, are also working on a ridiculously quick all-electric supercar.<\/p>\n

Upon launch, the Aston Martin Valkyrie will be faster around any F1 circuit than 2016 Formula One cars with the machine equipped with unique underfloor aerodynamics that will deliver an insane 4,000 pounds of downforce enabling the Valkyrie to achieve an impressive 4 g lateral acceleration.<\/p>\n
