With both the Mercedes-AMG Project One and Aston Martin Valkyrie making headlines as the next wave of hypercars. Porsche\u00a0have stated this does not affect the development cycle of the Porsche 918 Spyder.<\/p>\n
Porsche have a knack for launching “special models” every ten or so years. 2003, the exquisite\u00a0Porsche Carrera GT started with its monstrous V10 motor. 12 years late, the Porsche 918 Spyder rolled out of the Stuttgart factory with its V8 hybrid power combination.<\/p>\n
With that in mind, we expect the 918 Spyder successor to launch in 2025, five years after Porsche Mission-E takes our breath away. More than enough time to gather the pieces and catch our breath.<\/p>\n
One of the Porsche 918’s main rivals hailing from McLaren is expected to receive an all-electric successor as early as 2022 giving the British manufacturer a three-year head start.<\/p>\n
Ferrari has yet to confirm when they plan on releasing a LaFerrai successor and if they even plan to do so.<\/p>\n
It’s unknown what route Porsche will take for the next generation 918 Spyder. Could they go for another petrol hybrid combination similar to the current model or could they borrow the 919’s 2.0-litre four cylinders turbocharged petrol motor.<\/p>\n
Even though its eight years away, we look forward to the future of hypercars with at least four incredible machines to choose from. We can also hope for more manufacturers to enter the hypercar market.<\/p>\n
