Earlier\u00a0in the year, rumours started to circulate again that the Lexus GS series will be axed with no clear successor in sight. Recent reports have the ES models serving as a replacement to the GS.<\/p>\n
Both models serve as mid-sized sedan’s within Lexus’s premium fleet with the main differences\u00a0being styling\u00a0cues and drivetrain layout with the GS sporting rear-wheel drive whereas the ES rides on a front-wheel-drive layout.<\/p>\n
Lexus themselves have yet to confirm if this will be the\u00a0case. There is a possibility the Lexus\u00a0GS could just merge with the ES model and form a single model in some markets. While in other markets like the GCC, the GS marque could continue due to its popularity.<\/p>\n
Previous reports also have the new LS Series sedan as being a factor in the Lexus GS being dropped from the lineup which is plausible as the next-gen LS models will be fitted with V6 motors instead of V8’s.<\/p>\n
Rumours that the GS Series would be removed from the luxury divisions lineup have circulated as early as 2011 and have repeatedly\u00a0popped up over the past few months. When we know more, we’ll keep you updated.<\/p>\n
Upcoming Lexus ES models will continue to be based on the Toyota Camry and will retain the front-wheel drive layout with a selection of four and six-cylinder petrol motors.<\/p>\n
