Today’s sport car manufacturers\u00a0are pumping out fast cars with smaller engines with most ruling out a V12 in favour for turbocharged or supercharged V8’s. However, the word from Italy is the Ferrari V12 will be a mainstay for the foreseeable\u00a0future.<\/p>\n
As of recent, Ferrari has been under heavy scrutiny when it comes to making their cars for environment-friendly. Whereas most manufacturers will give in and ditch their large engines, Ferrari CEO Sergio Marchionne has said: “We will always offer a V12.”<\/p>\n
He also ruled out smaller displacements with turbocharged\u00a0induction saying it would be ‘absolutely nuts’ to put that on a Ferrari V12 motor.<\/p>\n
Instead of adding turbochargers or superchargers, future Ferrari V12 models will benefit from hybrid power. However, these systems won’t be implemented to increase fuel economy. Instead, they’ll improve\u00a0performance on track and road.<\/p>\n
Ferrari is no stranger to hybrid technology as the ultra desirable\u00a0LaFerrari and its race-prepped\u00a0FXX K version both utilise the technology. In 2010, the Italian brand also revealed a 599 hybrid concept to the world.<\/p>\n
Recent models including the 812 Superfast are slightly more eco-friendly than previous models with improvements made to engine technology and the addition of a push start system. Although, they ship with a larger 6.5-litre displacement.<\/p>\n
As previously mentioned, there aren’t many naturally aspirated V12 sports cars still being produced with the Lamborghini Aventador being the only one springing to mind.<\/p>\n
