Those of you anticipating the launch of a 911 plug-in hybrid may have to wait a bit longer\u00a0or elsewhere as the project has been cancelled.<\/p>\n
These environmentally\u00a0friendly sports cars were set to join the line-up\u00a0before the launch of the next generation. However, the German brand has decided against adding a 911 plug-in hybrid to the lineup.<\/p>\n
Although the 911 plug-in hybrid was confirmed last year, Porsche has revealed why they chose not to go ahead with the plan.<\/p>\n
In order to create hybrid versions, a heavy battery\u00a0pack would have to be\u00a0added\u00a0increasing the weight of the sports car and slightly hindering its dynamic\u00a0capabilities.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the model would also be more expensive and would not as profitable for the iconic nameplate leaving them with the ultimatum\u00a0of cancelling the project.<\/p>\n
Although\u00a0911 plug-in hybrid\u00a0models have been dismissed, Porsche is turning their attention towards other\u00a0vehicles including the upcoming Mission E<\/a>.
