Aston Martin’s upcoming sports car which is said to replace the current Vanquish model will use a familiar name. Making its debut this June, the Aston Martin DBS is back. But it won’t be simply known as the DBS.<\/p>\n
Its full name will be the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, a name we’re used to seeing on Italian\u00a0exotics. It’s not the first time as Aston Martin has used the extension in the past most notably with the iconic DB4.<\/p>\n
With such an extravagant\u00a0nameplate, we can expect the model to be constructed from light-weight materials including carbon fibre to keep the weight low. It will also be strictly a two-seater sports car.<\/p>\n
Power is said to come from a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 petrol engine which will presumably drive the rear axle via an automatic gearbox. A similar engine is currently found in DB11 models and generates an impressive 611 horsepower. We’re expecting the new Aston Martin DBS to pack a little extra as it will be targetting the Ferrari 812 Superfast and Lamborghini Aventador upon launch.<\/p>\n
The revived Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is the third model of seven of Aston Martin’s current plan. The other two are the DB11 and Vantage models. The next lot of models include an SUV<\/a> destined for 2019, a mid-engine supercar for 2020 and two separate models exclusive to Lagonda<\/a> to be launched\u00a0by the end of 2022. Additionally, the seven models will be joined by an all-electric Aston Martin Rapid-E<\/a>\u00a0and the limited edition\u00a0Valkyrie.<\/p>\n That mid-engine supercar has yet to receive an official\u00a0title. Seeing as the Vanquish nameplate will be free, it could transition\u00a0to the new model in an attempt to ‘vanquish’ its rivals.<\/p>\nAston Martin DBS teaser
