<\/p>\nIt’s something we see all too often\u00a0here in the UAE and Abu Dhabi\u00a0Police will start clamping down on those caught uploading photos and videos of accidents and issue hefty fines to individuals that can even lead to jail time.<\/p>\n
Brigadier Khalifa Mohammed Al Khaili, director of Traffic and Patrols of Abu Dhabi Police, announced, “taking photos at accident sites is a negative social phenomenon\u00a0that delays the work of traffic patrols, ambulances and civil defence\u00a0vehicles.”<\/p>\n
He continued, “due to such delays, it may result in the victim’s condition to worsen or may even cause fatalities.”<\/p>\n
According to the UAE’s Cybercrime Law no 5 of 2012, Article No. 21; “Anyone who uses an electronic device that invades a person’s privacy will be\u00a0issued a fine ranging from AED 150,000 to AED 500,000 and up to\u00a0six months behind bars.”<\/p>\n
The Security\u00a0Media Department and the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police are creating\u00a0awareness and spreading the word via social media.<\/p>\n

Dubicars.com urges all motorists to be respectful around accidents and not to record or take a picture of an accident on the roads. We’d also like to remind drivers to allow emergency\u00a0vehicles to\u00a0pass when an accident has occurred.<\/p>\n
Furthermore; we’d like to remind motorists to be careful and not rubberneck at the scene of an accident as it can result in an AED 1,000 fine for hindering and blocking roads.<\/p>\n
