The Volkswagen ID.7 electric sedan has been revealed at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show. It is the latest addition to VW\u2019s ID range of electric vehicles and as a result, it is the most advanced electric car yet from Volkswagen. With a range of around 700 kilometres, it is clearly focused on long-range electric mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volkswagen\u2019s EV Heritage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Largest car manufacturer of the year\u2019 is a title held by Volkswagen multiple times in the last few years. The VW Group boasts of having some of the best car brands in the world under its umbrella. This includes the likes of Bentley, Audi, Lamborghini, Ducati, Bugatti, Seat, Skoda, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with all major car manufacturers in the world, Volkswagen too is on the road to electrifying its entire product lineup. In fact, VW\u2019s electrification story started way back in 1972 when its Centre for Future Research began testing the Elektro Transporter. It was a prototype electric vehicle powered by a lead accumulator and based on a VW T2 Transporter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An electric version of the VW Golf was also produced in 1976. So, it is quite obvious that Volkswagen isn\u2019t exactly new to electric vehicles. However, the first modern electric vehicle from Volkswagen was the e-Golf showcased in 2013, and then came the production ID.3 in 2019. Since then, Volkswagen has launched the ID.4, ID.5, and ID.6. Now, the brand has revealed the ID.7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design & Styling<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The ID.7 is the first sedan in the Volkswagen ID series and keeping it in line with efficiency, Volkswagen has managed to design it in a way that the drag coefficient is 0.23. That places it higher than all of Tesla\u2019s products when it comes to aerodynamic efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Volkswagen ID.7 definitely looks premium and is styled to imbibe most of the ID series\u2019 signature design traits. Even amidst a crowd of electric vehicles, it is easy to spot the ID.7 from a distance and deduce that it belongs to the ID family. Yet, it does manage to look more premium and stylish than all the other ID cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interior<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Inside the ID.7 though, is a brand new layout unlike what we\u2019ve seen on ID cars before. It features a new dashboard layout and is packed with technology. The seats seem comfortable and easy to clock long distances in. It is quite obvious that the ID.7 is Volkswagen\u2019s most luxurious EV yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
