During his time at Coventry University, Debbas honed his skills and deepened his understanding of automotive design principles. His education provided him with the necessary foundation to embark on his professional journey in the industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon graduating, Debbas gained valuable experience working with leading automotive companies, where he refined his design expertise and gained insights into the complexities of the industry. He worked as a designer for Land Rover & Aston Martin and in 2009, launched WDI specialising in the design of furniture, boats, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founding W Motors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2012, Ralph Debbas realized his long-held dream of establishing his own automotive company and founded W Motors<\/a>. However, he began the process of developing W Motors and the Lykan HyperSport way back in 2006.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Breakthrough With The Lykan HyperSport<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

W Motors made headlines worldwide with the unveiling of its first production car, the Lykan HyperSport, at the Qatar Motor Show in 2013. Priced at a staggering AED 12.49 million ($3.4 million), the Lykan HyperSport<\/a> instantly captured the attention of automotive enthusiasts and collectors alike. At the time, it was the most expensive car in the world.  <\/p>\n\n\n

Boasting a sleek, futuristic design, unparalleled performance capabilities, and a host of exclusive features such as diamond-encrusted headlights, the Lykan HyperSport redefined the concept of luxury in the automotive industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lykan HyperSport was powered by a 3.7-litre Twin-Turbocharged flat-six engine<\/a> developed by Ruf Automobile. It produced 740hp and 960Nm, driving the rear wheels via either a 6-speed sequential manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox<\/a>. The Lykan hit new levels of popularity when it was featured in the Fast & Furious movie franchise<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global Recognition & Expansion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The success of the Lykan HyperSport catapulted W Motors into the global spotlight, establishing the brand as a formidable player in the luxury hypercar<\/a> automotive market. Under Ralph Debbas’s leadership, the company continued to push the boundaries of innovation, introducing groundbreaking technologies and design concepts in subsequent models.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Diversification & Future Products<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2013, W Motors announced it would develop a new supercar. This one was more affordable with a price tag of around AED 5.14 million. It was named the Fenyr SuperSport<\/a> and only 110 units were produced. A 900hp 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-6 engine powered it.<\/p>\n\n\n

W Motors\u2019 Special Projects Division developed a prototype vehicle for the Dubai Police. The SUV was known as Beast Patrol. However, the Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum renamed it the Ghiath<\/a>. The Dubai Police even revealed a special SWAT tactical response version of the Ghiath in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

W Motors will continue producing petrol-powered cars until 2026 when it will transition to an EV-only brand. The brand is also working on a high-performance version of the Fenyr, a luxury sedan, a new ultra-luxurious SUV, and an electric supercar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ralph Debbas’s legacy extends far beyond the realm of luxury automobiles.
