At the turn of the Century, the brand ended up as a subsidiary of BMW. This is where its modern history began. 2003 saw the launch of the Rolls-Royce Phantom<\/a>, the flagship. The brand then saw an opportunity in a smaller luxury sedan that would compete with the top-spec versions of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class<\/a> and BMW 7 Series<\/a>. This resulted in the development of the Rolls-Royce Ghost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Generation (Series 1) | 2009 – 2014<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first generation Rolls-Royce Ghost was based on the BMW<\/a> L06 platform, shared with the BMW 7 Series. This resulted in a sedan that was a little smaller than the RR Phantom. It was first revealed as a concept named the Rolls-Royce 200EX at the 2009 Geneva International Motor Show and went on sale in September 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n

Positioned as a more attainable alternative to the Phantom, the Ghost aimed to attract a younger demographic while maintaining the brand’s signature opulence.
