Back in 2013, news spread through the auto industry that the Toyota FJ Cruiser would cease production within the coming months. While some may have been upset about this news, it was confirmed only for the American market as GCC and Australian customers were still entitled to purchase a brand new one.<\/p>\n

Come August 2016 though, I hate to break it to you like this, but, the FJ Cruiser will be no more. Yep, that’s\u00a0right, the Japanese auto giant is pulling the plug on the retro-inspired\u00a0SUV in just three months time.<\/p>\n

It’s unknown as to why they are bringing production to an end, as it has proved popular in the Gulf regions and certain parts of the Oceania. You’ve got to admit it’s very hard to make travel the streets without seeing at least three.<\/p>\n

Making its GCC debut in 2008, for those who don’t know anything about the FJ, underneath the bonnet is a 4-litre V6 petrol engine. Mated to a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual, 270 horsepower is sent to all four wheels propelling the offroader to a top speed of 180 km\/h and from 0-100 in 8 seconds.<\/p>\n

Standard features included halogen headlights, 17-inch rims, airbags, air-conditioning and CD\/radio tuner. Those wanting extras can seek one with media inputs, reverse camera, rear parking sensors, roof rack and so on.<\/p>\n

With the doors closed on both the Defender and FJ Cruiser, the Wrangler is free to dominate the desert and road with no clear rival insight. Maybe the Xterra or Pajero, however, they are in a separate category. As of now, there is no successor in the pipelines.<\/p>\n
