Ram To Launch Electric Mid-Size Pickup Truck — New Truck Will Be Based On The Ram 1500 Revolution

Ram Trucks seems all set to reveal its very first electric mid-size electric pickup truck concept. According to reports, the upcoming yet-to-be-named electric truck was previewed to select dealers along with several other upcoming Dodge products.

A part of the massive Stellantis Group, Ram Trucks was until 2010 a part of the Dodge brand. Its roots can be traced back to 1980 when the Dodge Ram truck was launched. Dodge soon became the most popular manufacturer of pickup trucks and vans in North America with the ‘Ram’ brand amassing a cult following of its own.

In 2009, Dodge came under the Stellantis group, and in 2010, the decision to spin off Ram as a separate entity was taken. Since then, as a pickup truck and van brand, Ram Trucks has made great progress, bringing in newer and more modern trucks. Electric vehicles seem to be the future of mobility and Ram Trucks too are headed in the same direction.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2023, Ram Trucks showcased the 1500 Revolution full-size electric pickup truck. It boasts features never seen before along with promises of a strong electric powertrain. As it turns out, Ram didn’t stop at just the 1500 Revolution. Seems like Ram Trucks wants to return as a formidable player in the mid-size pickup truck segment.

According to reports, the mid-size pickup truck previewed to dealers looks very much like the 1500 Revolution showcased in January this year. This is excellent news for those who want the design & styling and features of a full-size truck in a smaller package.

Randy Dye, Dealer Council Chairman for Stellantis in 2022 was quoted as saying, “Without a doubt, it looks like a Ram. I look at some of the other mid-size offerings in the market, and I’m not going to pick on the individual brands, but I don’t think they always favor their mother brand. The mid-size ones have seemed to get away, and they don’t look the same. This is very much a Ram.”

The upcoming Ram mid-size electric pickup truck will be based on the STLA Frame platform that is set to underpin several electric vehicles from different brands under the Stellantis Group. The platform is capable of accommodating battery packs of between 101kWh and 118kWh. More details of the two new Ram electric trucks are expected to surface in the coming months.
