2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio now with rear-wheel drive

Since its debut last year, the Stelvio has been an all-wheel-drive affair with it being the only drivetrain available. That’s about to change as the 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will be available with not only AWD but rear-wheel drive as well.

Rear-wheel drive variants will wear a Q2 badge instead of the Q4 one as that signifies the vehicle is four-wheel drive and will only be available with the base engine. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit pushes out 280 horsepower and 415 Nm of torque and is connected to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

With the four-wheel drivetrain equipped, the 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio launches form 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 280 km/h.

Drivers can equip an 8.8-inch infotainment system display as well as a wide range of comfort, connectivity and driver assistance features. A sport package is also available for the rear-wheel-drive version which adds coloured brake calipers, 19-inch alloys, aluminium pedals and more.

Not only will the 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio be great for drifting (although we don’t recommend it), it will also be cheaper and lighter as the rear-wheel drive setup shaves 50 kgs off the total weight. On top of that, fuel economy will also improve.

Pricing and availability in the UAE and GCC is not yet known.
