2021 Volvo XC90: A Stylish 7-Seater

But that’s not all. The XC90 has evolved in more ways than one, and one of the biggest talking points is the exterior. Check out our gallery below.

Driving the 2021 Volvo XC90

Upon first glance, you’ll think “oh, that’s a nice soccer mum car. I bet it doesn’t go very fast.” But you’d be wrong. Equipped with a turbo supercharged 2-litre 4-cylinder engine, 320 Bhp runs through the XC90’s veins and gets the SUV moving to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. Not bad for a 7-seater.

Volvo’s Geartronic transmission offers smooth gear changes and are relatively fast at least going up. Downshifting is a bit sluggish at times.

The overall ride is smooth, with minimal body roll through the corners. Even on trickier terrain, the XC90’s ride remains comfortable for all. The 20-inch alloys and relatively decent ground clearance mean that light off-roading is manageable.

Outside the 2021 Volvo XC90

We’re going there again, Volvo’s styling cues are some of the best in the business.

Starting with the front end, a new bold grille dominates flanked by “Thor’s Hammer” styled LED headlights the 2020/2021 model is the best looking XC90 to date.

Prominent grooves work their way from the front end all the way to the rear uninterrupted and give the Volvo some character allowing it to more than just a family-friendly SUV.

Completing the look is a set of 20-inch rims with 10-spoke Black Diamond cut finish.

The XC60’s cabin is warm and inviting you’ll never want to get out of it. The materials are high-quality and soft-touch. A mix of wood and metal lines the dash without being too flashy and the crystal-esque finish on the dials and buttons is mesmerizing.

Drivers can focus on the road ahead without glaring down at the 12.3-inch intelligent driver system display screen thanks to crips heads up display.

The soft Nappa leather hugs you tight and keeps you cool thanks to the ventilation. Cooled seats are limited to the front two seats, but all get the plush leather even the third row.

Speaking of which, the final row in the XC90 compromises boot space but does allow two extra seats for the kids and only the kids.

Safety and tech

The highlight of the centre console is the large touch infotainment system. It’s crisp and clear with minimal lag. It has smartphone integration, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus Spotify, Pandora, and other apps are available.

As for safety tech, Volvo’s never fall short, and the 2021 XC90 is no exception. It’s got everything you’d need to keep you and your family safe. If you’re feeling confident, you can turn them off. But we wouldn’t recommend that.
