Aston Martin Vantage AMR limited to 200 units, gets 7-speed manual box

Teased over the past couple of weeks, the Aston Martin Vantage AMR has just been revealed and is the first variant of the new Vantage family to be sold with a highly desirable manual gearbox.

As with its automatic counterparts, the Vantage AMR is powered by an AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 good for 503 horsepower and 625 Nm of torque.

The powerplant sits low and as far back as possible in the chassis which gives the AMR a near perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

The biggest difference is the gearbox as the Aston Martin Vantage AMR is fitted with a motorsport-inspired seven-speed manual gearbox as standard.`

The transmission is a dog-leg first gear with second through to seventh laid out in a traditional double-H pattern. Connected to the stick shift is a limited-slip differential which channels power to the rear axle.

With all that said, the limited production sports car will reach 100 km/h in 4 seconds and continue on to a top speed of 313 km/h.

All that and more with the Aston Martin Vantage AMR

Other bonuses include carbon ceramic brakes that shave off a whopping 95 kg of weight over the standard Vantage. The vehicle also makes use of the brands Skyhook adaptive damping system which includes Sport, Sport+, and track modes.

Aston Martin will build just 200 variants of the Aston Martin Vantage AMR. Of the 200, 141 will be available in Onyx Black, White Stone, China Grey or Sabiro Blue.

The other 59 units will bear the name ‘Vantage 59’ and celebrate the 60th anniversary of Aston Martin’s win at the 1959 24 Hours fo Le Mans. These final units will be decked out in Stirling Green and Lime paint.

In case you don’t make the shortlist for one of the 200, Aston Martin will offer a manual transmission with the standard Vantage in starting in the first quarter of 2020.
