The United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Day is a momentous occasion that holds great significance for the people of this vibrant and progressive nation. Commemorated on the 2nd of December each year, the day marks the union of the seven emirates into a single sovereign state in 1971. The event is a time for reflection, patriotism, and joyous celebrations as the UAE takes pride in its achievements and looks towards an even brighter future.
The story of the UAE National Day traces back to the historic union of six emirates – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al-Quwain, Fujairah, and Ajman – on December 2, 1971. The seventh emirate, Ras Al Khaimah, joined the federation shortly after, on February 10, 1972. This union marked the beginning of a new era for the region.
Celebrating UAE’s National Day
The UAE National Day is not just a public holiday; it’s a festival of national pride. The celebrations kick off with a grand parade in Abu Dhabi, the capital, featuring military displays, traditional dances, and impressive aerobatic performances by the UAE Air Force. The streets are adorned with the national flag, and the colors of the UAE – Red, Green, White, and Black – dominate the landscape.
In Dubai, the iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, lights up in the national colors, creating a breathtaking spectacle visible for miles around. Fireworks displays, cultural events, and concerts further add to the festive atmosphere across the emirates.
DubiCars’ National Day Video
As the UAE’s most trusted car marketplace, DubiCars took up the task of celebrating the UAE National Day in a unique manner. Combining the country’s love and passion for cars and the towering metropolis that Dubai is, DubiCars has put together a quirky video in which participants answered an interesting question.
The question: If Dubai was a car, which model would it be?
The answer? Well, there can’t be one correct answer to this as Dubai is many things to many different people and hence the answers differed as well. DubiCars’ employees and dealers came up with answers to this question and some factors were quite common across all the car models received as answers — all of them were glamorous, high-performance cars with a unique character.
Some of the cars that came up as answers were Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Nissan Patrol, Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Rover Range Rover, and so on. Here’s the DubiCars National Day Video:
This exercise simply brought out the fact that the vibrant city of Dubai means different things to different people. However, they all love Dubai, which is one of the most popular cities not just in this region but also on a global level.
