Mitsubishi Lancer EX model to be discontinued in 2017

Over four decades have gone by where the Mitsubishi Lancer EX and other Lancer models have been the vehicle of choice. Whether it be a food delivery company or a construction site, these front wheel drive machines were everywhere.

2017 appears to be the last year for the Lancer EX in the UAE as the vehicles won’t be sold by August 2017.

Powered by a four-cylinder motor driving the front wheels throughout the years, the Mitsubishi Lancer is available in a multitude of guises. Sedan, two-door coupe and even a top performing rally car.

Although the Lancer EX sedan is to be discontinued later this year, the affordable four-door will be replaced by the Fortis model which is readily available as no official replacement has been named as of yet.

While we are not sure why the nameplate is to be taken off the production line, we’ve got new Mitsubishi Lancer and used Mitsubishi Lancer for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi.

Seeing as the crossover market is in full swing, could we see another one spawn from the Japanese brand on top of the Mitsubishi ASX. Plus there is the possibility that it could continue in select regions with minor tweaks.

What we really need is another Mitsubishi Lancer EVO! Plus an update to the Pajero which is supposed to debut sometime this year or in 2018.

Once it’s gone, you’ll have to get your four-door sedan fix elsewhere. Maybe a Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra and Mazda 3 can fill the void.
