New Salik gate now operational on Shaikh Zayed Road

Motorists commuting to Dubai or Abu Dhabi via Shaikh Zayed Road will now have to pay an additional AED 4 if they drive underneath the new Salik gate which is now in operation after Ibn Battuta mall heading towards Abu Dhabi.

The switch was flipped to activate the gate at 12 am Wednesday morning (24/10/18).

According to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, the new Salik gate is expected to reduce traffic congestion on the busy highway by 25 per cent by sending motorists to alternative routes including Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum road which was officially opened in 2016 and spans across 62 km.

Now there are a total of seven Salik gates scattered across Dubai including three on Shaikh Zayed Road which is one of the busiest roads in the Emirate.
