RTA release awareness campaign for motorists and pedestrians

The Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has released an awareness campaign for motorists and pedestrians urging all to adhere to a number of safety and security rules

The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness and enhance safety for road users in the UAE around tram lines, the tram and tram stations in an effort to avoid crashing into the tram and protect public property.

Mohammed Yousef Al Mudharreb, Director of Rail Operations, Rail Agency, RTA expressed the RTA’s ongoing efforts to raise safety awareness across all segments of society, especially motorists, road users and riders.

While most junctions with tram intersections have large signs displaying warnings and fines, below is a list of fines for motorists if they fail to adhere to the rules;

  1. Driving through a red light without causing an accident, AED 5,000 fine and licence suspended for three months.
  2. Injuring a pedestrian/person, AED 15,000 fine and license suspended for AED 15,000.
  3. Causing an accident which may lead cause death, up to AED 30,000 fine and license suspended for one year.
