Now in its sixth generation of the storied SUV, it’s the best Explorer Ford has made especially with this ST Model. Even though the platform is all new, the Explorer’s design is still instantly recognisable, with the steeply forward-raked C-pillar and trademark trapezoidal Ford company grille. The interior has been completely rethought for this 2021 model.
Adding an ST badge to any Ford raises expectations of performance to a level far above the merely quick. But add it they have and that means this 2021 Ford Explorer ST has met all the strict internal parameters of Ford Performance. Added to this model includes Blind spot warning, lane change warning, adaptive cruise control and cooled/heated ST seats to name a few!
Adding a whole new level of all-round comfort, flexibility, and performance, the full house ST provides a 3.0L Turbo-charged V6 400bhp. This is the second time Ford has used the hallowed ST tag on an SUV. Right off the bat, the new Explorer steers, brakes and accelerates way more than ever before. Steering has more feel, body roll is better checked & as a result you feel far more confident throwing it around. Off-road, the Explorer is more than capable enough to handle even quite unreasonably savage grades, rocks, water, and mud. Away from the drivetrains and chassis, the optional active safety package works well, only making itself known as and when the need arises. Likewise, road and wind noise are well suppressed in all models.
On the inside changes are sublime, with the added of Ford’s suite of electronic driver aids such as blind-spot monitoring & lane-keeping assist. A Bang & Olufsen sound system is standard, apple/android as are a wi-fi hotspot, 10-way power-adjustable ST front heated/cooled seats with micro suede inserts and some stout bolstering. Away from the ST badging and the above enhancements, the Explorer is still one of the most cavernous and internally flexible mid-sized crossovers you can buy.
