Update! 2017 Porsche Panamera, this is it!

After months of speculation, and with last week’s leak of pics, Porsche has officially unveiled the 2017 Porsche Panamera. From a distance, not a lot has changed, but take a look up close and new features instantly stick out.

While creases have been ironed out, Porsche 911 headlights make their way onto the front end. Much like the 718 models due out later this year, the rear end sports an LED light strip which connects the taillamps together with Porsche lettering.

Inside, the instrument cluster goes digital ditching the analogue technology to deliver more accurate readings and leaving on the rev counter in it’s dated form. A four-seat setup is still the norm and now with an optional digital display for passengers to presumably control climate, media volume and so on.

Up front, a 12.3-inch touchscreen display takes over with the latest technology equipped such as Apple CarPlay. Manually adjustable air-con vents are a thing of the past as 2017 models can be adjusted by one’s finger. Optional extras increase and now include a panoramic tilt roof, massage seats, 3D high definition audio system and ambient lighting.

Pictured, is a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 model with power sent to the rear wheels. V8’s with other displacements as well as a V6 is said to be still on the table. Performance figures are unknown. Higher output, lower 0-100 km/h time, and higher top speed is inevitable. The V8 motor will exclusively power 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo models.

The V8 motor will exclusively power 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo models and is rated at 550 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h time is reduced to just 3.6 seconds sport Chrono package equipped.

Next generation Panamera 4S models hide a V6 2.9-litre petrol motor capable of 440 horsepower and 550 Nm or torque. 0-100 km/ is achieved in 4.2 seconds with the previously mentioned package installed. Both engines are rated higher than previous models and have increased fuel economy

2017 models also weigh in a lot lighter than previous generations. As mush as 90 kilos have been shaved off thanks to new materials such as high strength steel, aluminium amongst many other composite materials.

Porsche’s self-proclaimed “World’s fastest luxury sedan” is set to release in January 2017 here in the UAE and the GCC. Prices start at AED 483,700 for Porsche Panamera 4S models and the price for Porsche Panamera Turbo models start at AED 679,800.
