Dubai RTA Auctions Number Plates For AED 38.21 Million; Most Expensive Plate Fetches AED 5.2 Million

Dubai’s RTA has sold a number plate for just over $1.4 million (AED 5.2 million). The number plate in question reads “AA 15” and was the highest-fetching number plate at the recent Open Auction for Distinctive Vehicle Number Plates held at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai. A few ‘fancy’ vehicle registration number plates were auctioned at the event.

The Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) hosts a premium number plate auction once in a few months. The Open Auction held on 20 March 2023 was the first such auction event this year and the RTA raised AED 38.21 million through the many premium number plates auctioned.

A total of 90 fancy vehicle number plates were auctioned during this 112th Open Auction and all of them belonged to the series AA-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z.
