Wow, just wow was our reaction when we first laid eyes on this Range Rover Sport, add to that with the SVR exhaust – which feels even louder & comes with the colossal 21” Black Pack alloy wheels & red brake callipers. This sport adds ‘lightweight’ black leather seats that retain heating function. Under the hood we find a 5.0-litre V8 for a total of 542bhp & 680Nm of torque and gets up to 0-100 in 4.7 seconds!! An eight-speed automatic transmission – with low range, because Land Rover – runs through all-wheel drive.

What’s it like to drive? Stately, insofar as even though this is the most hardcore Range Rover money can buy with the firmest suspension, the most powerful engine, and bigger wheels, you still instinctively adopt the exact same driving position you would for all the power. But most of all it’s fast. Like, extremely fast. A fastness amplified by the height, the width, the noise and bludgeoning, thuggish gait with which this Sport flows down any road. The eight-speed auto has been tuned for speed, so shifts are quick and signaled by a brap from the SVR exhausts. There’s a substantial amount of grip that, on the road, you’ll never run out of.
