2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class spotted

Not too long ago, Mercedes revealed facelifted S-Class models for 2018. With a sleeker design and few tweaks here and there, that’s already in the past for the German brand as spy photographers have reportedly snapped a few shots of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class undergoing testing.

What lies beneath its ultra-luxurious exterior is unknown although it’s safe to assume the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will benefit from a wide range of new technology and mechanical components.

Test mules spotted do give a few hints of whats to come. Larger wheel arches are evident suggesting a wide track is on the way and there are reports claiming the future S-Class will utilise carbon fibre reinforced plastic during the construction process to create a lighter vehicle.

2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class executive sedans are expected to receive a range of ‘greener’ engines to drive each corner or just the rear axle mated to a smooth automatic gearbox.

New technology for the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The new S-Class is said to receive Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities. We’re not aware if this will be the first time for Mercedes, as their rivals; BMW and Audi will be implementing similar systems in their vehicles much earlier.

BMW 7-series models are expected to install autonomous modes for the 2019 model year, whereas Audi will add the system in the new A8 which could debut as early as next year.

There’s still plenty of time between now and then, stay tuned as more information is bound to surface over the coming weeks/years.
