Summary

This 2017 Genesis G90 Royal represents the peak of Korean luxury, offering a V8-powered alternative to the established German flagships at a far more accessible entry point. With 78,000 km, its mileage is significantly lower than typical GCC averages for a seven-year-old executive sedan, which often see heavy highway use between emirates. The Royal trim is the most desirable in this region, featuring a rear-seat experience that specifically prioritizes passenger comfort during long desert commutes. In the GCC market, the white exterior is the strongest choice for heat management and maintains the highest resale liquidity. For a buyer seeking the silent refinement of a naturally aspirated V8 and an extensive feature set without the premium badge tax, this G90 is a standout opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2017 Genesis G90s

While many 2017 G90s in the UAE have surpassed the 150,000 km mark due to long-distance commuting, this example has covered just 78,000 km, placing it in a higher bracket for mechanical longevity and interior preservation. The GCC specification is a vital distinction here, ensuring the cooling system and air conditioning are optimized for extreme summer temperatures, unlike imported North American units. Its white paint is not only practical for the climate but remains the most sought-after color for second-hand executive buyers in the region.

ROYAL vs Lower Trims

The Royal trim elevates the G90 from a luxury sedan to a proper limousine by adding dual 10.3-inch rear-seat entertainment screens and a total of 14-way power-adjustable rear seats. While the standard 3.3T models focus on efficiency, the Royal's 5.0L V8 provides a more effortless power delivery and a refined engine note that defines the flagship experience. You also benefit from ventilated rear seats and soft-close doors, features that are often optional extras on European rivals but standard on this high-tier Genesis.

G90 vs Segment Rivals

The G90 competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series, leadings the segment in front legroom with a verified 1,176 mm. It offers a more traditional, simplified luxury experience compared to the complex tech interfaces of the Audi A8 or Lexus LS, which many GCC owners prefer for ease of use during daily drives. Its standard All-Wheel Drive system provides superior stability on sand-dusted highways compared to the rear-wheel-drive configurations often found on entry-level German competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.0L V8 engine is designed for long-term reliability and thrives on 98-octane fuel available across all GCC stations. Genesis has established a robust authorized service network through regional partners like Al Jood and Juma Al Majid, ensuring that genuine parts and specialized technicians are easily accessible. While executive sedans generally face higher initial depreciation, the G90 has shown a more stable value curve in the UAE market once it reaches the five-year mark, often retaining more of its original value than its more expensive European counterparts. Maintenance intervals typically occur every 10,000 km, with average annual costs being more predictable than those of out-of-warranty German flagships.

Performance & Capability

The naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 delivers 407 horsepower and 505 Nm of torque, propelling this large sedan to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. This powertrain is particularly suited for the UAE's high-speed highway networks, offering seamless overtaking power and a top speed electronically capped at 240 km/h. The H-TRAC All-Wheel Drive system continuously monitors traction, providing confidence during rare but heavy rain showers or when traversing gravel-laden secondary roads. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, ensuring gear changes are virtually imperceptible during stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Royal trim provides a sanctuary of Nappa leather and real wood accents, with a tri-zone climate control system engineered to cool the large cabin rapidly in 45°C+ heat. Front passengers enjoy 22-way power-adjustable seating, while the rear compartment functions as a mobile office or lounge with dedicated climate vents and sunshades. Acoustic laminated glass and extensive sound insulation ensure the 17-speaker Lexicon audio system delivers concert-hall clarity even at highway speeds. The cabin's layout is specifically designed to provide a sense of space that rivals long-wheelbase versions of its competitors.

Safety

The G90 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech including Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go functionality, which is essential for managing heavy traffic on the E11. Blind-Spot Detection and Lane Keep Assist provide critical support during high-speed lane changes, while the 360-degree camera system makes parking this large executive sedan effortless. Standard safety features include nine airbags and a reinforced steel chassis that has historically earned the model top safety ratings from international bodies like the IIHS.

The bottom line

This G90 Royal is the perfect choice for an executive or family looking for a low-mileage, high-specification limousine that prioritizes comfort and V8 refinement over brand prestige. At 78,000 km, it offers a nearly-new ownership experience for a fraction of its original cost in the preferred GCC spec.
