Summary

This 2017 Infiniti QX70 Excellence offers a compelling entry into the performance-luxury SUV segment, featuring the legendary VQ37 engine known for its reliability and high-revving character. The Excellence trim provides a high-spec cabin with premium materials that rival newer competitors, while the All-Wheel Drive system ensures stability during high-speed highway cruising across the Emirates. Its distinctive brown exterior is a sophisticated alternative to the common greyscale palette and holds its aesthetic appeal well in the bright GCC sun. With mileage that aligns perfectly with typical regional usage for its age, this QX70 represents a balanced opportunity for a driver seeking Japanese engineering with a sport-focused soul.

This Car vs Other 2017 QX70s

At 125,000 km, this vehicle sits at the average mileage mark for a 2017 model in the GCC, where annual highway commutes often reach 20,000 km. While many examples in the market have exceeded 150,000 km, this unit has been driven moderately, preserving the mechanical integrity of its naturally aspirated V6. The brown finish is a unique resale highlight that stands out in a market saturated with white and silver SUVs.

EXCELLENCE vs Lower Trims

The Excellence trim elevates the QX70 experience with premium leather upholstery and the high-fidelity 11-speaker Bose audio system, which is a significant upgrade over the base units. It also typically includes the specialized Infiniti hard-drive navigation and the Around View Monitor, providing a 360-degree perspective that is invaluable for parking in tight urban spaces like Dubai Marina or downtown Riyadh.

QX70 vs Segment Rivals

The QX70 leads rivals like the Lexus RX350 and BMW X5 in pure driver engagement, offering a front-midship platform that provides superior weight distribution and handling agility. While competitors focus on utility, the Infiniti prioritizes a sports-car-like feel, backed by a robust 90-litre fuel tank that is ideal for long-distance cross-border drives between GCC cities.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 10.8 L/100km, though GCC city traffic can push this higher; however, its 90-litre tank ensures a substantial highway range. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, supported by one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As a Japanese luxury brand, the QX70 retains value better than European equivalents, depreciating at a more stable rate of 10-12% annually.

Performance & Capability

The 3.7-litre V6 delivers a potent 329 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.3 seconds, which remains competitive for the SUV class. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system is rear-biased for a sporty feel but can divert up to 50% of power to the front wheels when it detects slip on sand-covered roads. With a top speed of 230 km/h and a refined 7-speed automatic transmission, it is specifically tuned for effortless overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a driver-centric environment featuring 10-way power-adjustable leather seats and dual-zone climate control designed to handle extreme 45°C+ summer temperatures. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents, while the 11-speaker Bose system provides crisp audio isolation from road noise. The moonroof and power liftgate add a layer of convenience that complements the high-quality, soft-touch materials used throughout the interior.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the Excellence trim includes a comprehensive airbag system, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Brake Assist, which are essential for high-speed GCC traffic conditions. The Around View Monitor with moving object detection provides a virtual 360-degree bird's-eye view, significantly reducing blind spots during lane changes and maneuvers. Stability and traction control systems are specifically calibrated to manage the car's power on both tarmac and light gravel surfaces.

The bottom line

This QX70 is the ideal choice for the GCC buyer who wants a reliable Japanese SUV that doesn't sacrifice performance for practicality. Its balanced mileage and premium Excellence spec make it a standout value in the current used market.
