Summary

This 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 Activity Edition offers a sophisticated entry into the luxury compact crossover segment, blending the agility of a premium hatchback with the elevated stance of an SUV. With 88,000 km, this vehicle has been driven well below the typical GCC annual average, making it a mechanically fresh choice for the local market. The black exterior remains one of the most resilient colors for resale in the region, ensuring long-term value retention. This specific Activity Edition trim provides a distinct aesthetic and feature set that sets it apart from more common base models. For a buyer in the UAE, this is a balanced daily driver that handles city traffic with efficiency while offering the prestige of the three-pointed star.

This Car vs Other 2017 GLA250s

At 88,000 km, this GLA250 sits significantly below the average mileage for a 2017 model in the GCC, which often exceeds 140,000 km. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the local used market, typically commanding faster resale times than bolder colors. Its GCC specification ensures the air conditioning and cooling systems are optimized for the extreme summer heat found across the Emirates.

ACTIVITY vs Lower Trims

The Activity Edition enhances the standard GLA250 with 19-inch wheels and unique exterior decals that provide a more rugged, adventurous look. Inside, it adds standard convenience features like the power liftgate and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration that were often optional on base trims. The inclusion of the Off-Road Package as part of the 4MATIC system provides a dedicated display for steering and tilt angles, useful for light weekend excursions.

GLA250 vs Segment Rivals

The GLA250 leads rivals like the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 in terms of its sleek, aerodynamic profile, which makes it easier to park in tight city spaces like Downtown Dubai. While the BMW X1 focuses on raw cargo volume, the Mercedes provides a more premium interior finish and a smoother 7G-DCT transmission for stop-start traffic. Its four-wheel-drive system offers better high-speed stability on the E11 highway compared to front-wheel-drive competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Expect a real-world combined fuel consumption of approximately 6.6 L/100km, making it one of the more efficient luxury crossovers for long-distance commuting. Mercedes-Benz has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts are readily available and maintenance is straightforward. The GLA-Class maintains a stable depreciation rate in the GCC, losing roughly 12-15% annually, which is competitive for a European luxury brand.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 2.0L turbocharged engine delivering 208 hp, this crossover reaches 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds, providing plenty of power for highway overtaking. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system ensures maximum grip during the rare but heavy rain showers in the region or on loose gravel tracks. With a top speed of 230 km/h, it is perfectly suited for high-speed cruising between emirates with minimal engine strain.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features MB-Tex premium upholstery designed to withstand high cabin temperatures without cracking, a vital feature for GCC owners. Dual-zone automatic climate control comes standard, providing rapid cooling even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight. The 60/40-split folding rear seats allow the 421-litre boot to expand significantly for larger shopping trips or sports gear.

Safety

Safety is managed by eight standard airbags and the Mercedes-Benz Attention Assist system, which monitors driver fatigue during long desert drives. It also includes Active Brake Assist for emergency situations and hill descent control for added stability on inclined surfaces. These active systems provide peace of mind on the UAE's fast-moving multi-lane highways.

The bottom line

This GLA250 Activity Edition is the ideal choice for a young professional or small family seeking a low-mileage, GCC-spec luxury SUV that balances premium prestige with sensible running costs.
