Summary

This 2018 A250 Sport represents the first year of the refined W177 generation, offering a significant tech leap over its predecessor. Finished in Polar White—the most desirable resale color in the UAE—this GCC-spec hatchback is perfectly suited for the region's climate with its robust cooling system and factory-tinted glass. While the mileage reflects typical long-distance commuting between Emirates, the A250 remains a standout for its balance of high-speed stability and urban agility. It offers a much more premium cabin experience than its Japanese rivals while undercutting the running costs of larger executive sedans. For a buyer seeking German engineering with genuine daily practicality, this is a highly competitive entry point into the Mercedes-Benz brand.

This Car vs Other 2018 A250s

With 172,235 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 21,500 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for highway-heavy commuting. The Polar White exterior is a significant advantage for local resale, as it stays cooler in the summer sun and remains the most sought-after color in the pre-owned market. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from an enhanced cooling system and air conditioning hardware designed specifically for extreme desert heat.

SPORT vs Lower Trims

The Sport trim provides a noticeable upgrade over the standard SE, featuring larger 18-inch alloy wheels and a more aggressive exterior styling package. Inside, you get a leather-wrapped steering wheel and sportier cabin accents that significantly elevate the interior feel. It also includes the MBUX widescreen digital cockpit as standard, a feature that remains a key selling point for tech-focused buyers in the used market.

A250 vs Segment Rivals

The A250 consistently leads the BMW 1 Series and Audi A3 in terms of interior technology and 'big car' feel on the highway. Its 51-litre fuel tank provides a generous range for long stretches between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, while the MBUX interface is widely considered more intuitive than its peers. The 224 hp output ensures effortless overtaking on fast-moving UAE motorways, where smaller hatchbacks often feel underpowered.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 6.6 L/100km on the highway, making it an efficient choice for cross-country drives. Mercedes-Benz maintains a massive authorized service network via Gargash and Emirates Motor Company across the UAE, with similar strength in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. While German luxury cars typically depreciate by 12-15% annually in this market, the A250’s popularity as a first car for young professionals helps it retain value better than larger, more expensive sedans.

Performance & Capability

The A250 clocks a verified 0–100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds, providing punchy acceleration that feels immediate thanks to the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. With a top speed of 250 km/h, it feels exceptionally planted at the 140 km/h highway limits common across the region. Multiple drive modes allow you to switch from a comfortable city cruiser to a sharp, responsive hatchback when the road opens up.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin features the advanced MBUX digital cockpit, which remains one of the most modern-looking interiors in its class. GCC buyers will appreciate the powerful dual-zone climate control and rear ventilation that handle 45°C summers with ease. The 370-litre boot is surprisingly practical for grocery runs or weekend trips, and the cabin insulation provides a quiet refuge from the wind noise often encountered on desert highways.

Safety

This A250 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including 7 airbags and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Standard features like Attention Assist and Active Brake Assist are particularly valuable in the fast-paced, multi-lane traffic of Dubai and Riyadh. It also includes electronic stability control tuned to handle the occasional sand or gravel found on local roadsides.

The bottom line

Perfect for the urban professional or a small family, this A250 Sport offers a high-spec German experience with the peace of mind that comes from a full GCC-compliant cooling system and the region's best resale color.
