Summary

This 2019 E 450 represents a major mid-cycle upgrade for the E-Class, introducing the high-output biturbo V6 that offers a significant power jump over the earlier E 400. With 98,000 km, this sedan sits at an average mileage for its age in the GCC, where long-distance highway commutes are standard. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the region, maintaining strong resale value and hiding the dust from frequent desert winds. For the executive buyer, this trim offers the perfect balance of effortless highway overtaking and the refined, quiet cabin Mercedes is known for. It remains a benchmark in the segment for those who prioritize long-distance comfort and prestige over pure sports car stiffness.

This Car vs Other 2019 E 450s

At 98,000 km, this E 450 has been driven approximately 19,000 km per year, which is slightly below the 20,000–25,000 km annual average typical of the UAE and wider GCC. This makes it a compelling option for buyers seeking a well-used but not over-extended executive sedan. The Grey finish is one of the most resilient colors for the local market, ensuring it stays cooler in the summer heat than darker shades while retaining higher demand at resale.

PREMIUM PLUS vs Lower Trims

The Premium Plus package is a critical upgrade for GCC owners, adding features that significantly improve the ownership experience in hot climates. It typically includes the Burmester® Surround Sound system, 360° camera for effortless parking in tight city spots, and the panoramic sunroof. This trim also standardizes the dual 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit displays, providing a far more modern interior feel compared to the analog-heavy base trims.

E 450 vs Segment Rivals

While the BMW 540i focuses on driver engagement and the Audi A6 on minimalist tech, the E 450 is the segment's undisputed comfort leader. Its biturbo V6 provides smoother power delivery than the BMW's inline-6, making it better suited for the high-speed, multi-lane highways between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Furthermore, the Mercedes cabin materials and insulation are widely regarded as the most opulent in this class, offering a more isolated and quiet ride during long cross-border trips.

Running Costs & Resale

The E 450 averages approximately 9.5 L/100km on the highway, making it a surprisingly efficient cruiser for its power level. Mercedes-Benz has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and expert maintenance are always accessible. While European luxury sedans typically depreciate by 12–15% annually in the GCC, the E 450’s position as the top non-AMG model helps it hold value better than the 4-cylinder E 300.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L V6 biturbo engine is the star here, producing 362 hp and a massive 500 Nm of torque available from just 1,800 RPM. This allows for seamless, low-effort acceleration that is particularly useful for merging onto fast-moving GCC highways. The 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission keeps revs low at cruising speeds, while selectable drive modes allow you to sharpen the throttle and steering for a more spirited drive on weekend coastal routes.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the long-haul GCC lifestyle, featuring high-quality leather and multi-zone climate control that quickly cools the interior even after standing in 45°C sun. Acoustic glass helps maintain a library-quiet atmosphere, shielding passengers from road noise and desert wind. The 5-seat layout offers generous legroom for adult passengers in the rear, while the 540-litre boot provides ample space for luggage on inter-emirate road trips.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with the PRE-SAFE® system, Active Brake Assist, and Blind Spot Assist standard on this trim. These features are indispensable in fast-moving local traffic, providing an extra layer of protection during lane changes. The car also features Attention Assist to monitor driver fatigue during long desert drives and a 360° camera system that makes navigating busy underground parking lots much safer.

The bottom line

For the professional who spends significant time on the road, this E 450 Premium Plus offers the best of German engineering with the power and features essential for the GCC climate. It is a smart buy for someone wanting the prestige and performance of a V6 Mercedes without the higher running costs of a full AMG.
