Audi A5 45 TFSI S LINE SPORTBACK

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 6.0 seconds
• 261 hp from a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder
• 1,299 litres maximum boot space

Summary

This 2021 Audi A5 Sportback represents a smart executive choice, offering significantly lower mileage than the typical 60,000–75,000 km expected for a three-year-old vehicle in the GCC. The 45 TFSI trim provides a meaningful power bump over the base model, making it much better suited for high-speed overtakes on the E11. Finished in Black—a high-demand resale color across the UAE and Saudi Arabia—it combines the sleek lines of a coupe with the practical five-door access of a hatchback. For buyers in the region, this specific configuration balances athletic performance with the utility needed for both city commutes and long-distance weekend trips.

This Car vs Other 2021 A5s

With just 31,000 km, this A5 has seen roughly half the usage of an average 2021 model in the UAE market, where annual mileage often exceeds 20,000 km. The Black exterior is one of the most stable colors for value retention in the GCC, ensuring easier resale compared to niche tones. As an American spec vehicle, it offers a higher equipment level for the price compared to local market equivalents.

45 TFSI S LINE SPORTBACK vs Lower Trims

The 45 TFSI trim is a significant step up from the 40 TFSI, adding Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system and a high-output engine tune for superior stability in high-speed highway conditions. The S Line package further distinguishes this car with a sport-tuned suspension and aggressive exterior styling that includes larger wheels and specialized trim. Inside, you benefit from a premium digital cockpit and upgraded cabin materials that are often optional on lower specifications.

A5 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the A5 Sportback leads in cargo flexibility thanks to its wide-opening liftback tailgate and 1,299-litre maximum capacity. While its German rivals focus on traditional sedan shapes, the A5’s hatchback design offers a more practical load-through for shopping or luggage without sacrificing the executive silhouette preferred in Riyadh or Dubai. The Quattro system also provides more predictable handling on sandy or oil-slicked roads compared to rear-wheel-drive competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is highly efficient for its performance class, averaging approximately 7.1 L/100km on combined cycles, making it ideal for long-distance cruising between emirates. As an American spec car, insurance and specialized parts may be sourced through independent luxury specialists in Sharjah or Al Quoz, though basic maintenance is standard across most European service centers. While American imports typically trade at a lower entry price, the low mileage and S Line trim help offset the standard depreciation curve for German executive cars in the local market.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with the 45 TFSI powertrain, this A5 delivers 261 hp and a sharp 0–100 km/h time of just 6.0 seconds. The 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission provides rapid gear changes that make merging into fast-moving highway traffic effortless. With Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive standard on this trim, the car maintains exceptional grip on both dry asphalt and during occasional heavy desert rainstorms.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance GCC comfort, featuring a three-zone climate control system that ensures the rear passengers stay as cool as the driver during the summer months. The Sportback layout provides 480 litres of boot space with all five seats in place, extending to nearly 1,300 litres for larger hauls. Premium leather upholstery and high-definition digital displays create a refined environment that remains well-insulated from exterior road noise and desert heat.

Safety

Safety features on this trim include Audi Pre-Sense, which provides forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, alongside lane departure warnings. The Quattro all-wheel-drive system acts as a core active safety feature, providing superior traction on uneven or sandy surfaces. Multi-stage airbags and a reinforced chassis contributed to its high safety ratings, making it a secure choice for family and executive use alike.

The bottom line

This is a low-mileage, high-spec alternative to a standard GCC sedan, perfect for the driver who wants executive style with the versatility of a larger hatchback.
