Summary

This 540i M Sport Comfort hits the GCC used market sweet spot, offering a massive power jump over the standard four-cylinder models while maintaining excellent fuel efficiency thanks to its 48V mild-hybrid system. With mileage consistent for a well-maintained executive sedan in the UAE, this black-on-black example is finished in the region's most desirable resale color combination. The B58 engine under the hood is widely regarded as one of BMW's most reliable modern powertrains, perfectly suited for the long highway commutes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. For buyers who find the 530i underpowered but don't want the high running costs of a V8, this inline-six provides the ideal balance of prestige and performance. As a GCC-spec model, it features the uprated cooling systems essential for maintaining peak performance during the peak summer months.

This Car vs Other 2022 540is

With just over 80,000 km, this vehicle sits at a typical mileage for a three-year-old executive sedan in the GCC, where annual averages often reach 25,000 km due to highway-heavy travel. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the local market, ensuring better value retention and a faster turnaround at resale compared to niche colors. It has been kept in its original regional specification, ensuring full compatibility with local service centers and maps.

M SPORT COMFORT vs Lower Trims

The M Sport Comfort trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the base 530i by adding the M Aerodynamics package, 19-inch M light-alloy wheels, and a more aggressive stance. Inside, the 'Comfort' designation brings multi-contour front seats with memory functions and upgraded Dakota or Nappa leather, which stays significantly cooler than synthetic alternatives. You also benefit from the M Sport suspension and steering, providing a much sharper response during high-speed highway lane changes.

540i vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Mercedes-Benz E450 or the Audi A6 55 TFSI, the BMW 540i stands out for its superior engine balance and driving dynamics. The 68-litre fuel tank paired with the efficient B58 engine allows for a total highway range that often exceeds 900 km, outclassing several rivals on long-distance desert drives. Its iDrive 7 system remains a benchmark for ease of use, specifically when navigating the fast-paced multi-lane highways of the UAE.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 9.5L/100km in mixed GCC driving, though it can drop to as low as 7.0L/100km on steady highway cruises. Service intervals are managed by BMW’s Condition Based Service (CBS) system, usually prompting an oil change every 12,000 to 15,000 km, with authorized service centers readily available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While European luxury sedans face higher initial depreciation than Japanese rivals, the 540i M Sport retains its value better than almost any other 5 Series variant due to the high local demand for the six-cylinder engine.

Performance & Capability

The 540i delivers a verified 0–100 km/h sprint in 5.0 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on the E11 and E311 highways. The 335 hp turbocharged straight-six is paired with a silky-smooth 8-speed ZF automatic transmission that reacts instantly to driver inputs. Selectable driving modes, including Sport and Eco Pro, allow the driver to prioritize either sharpened throttle response for city driving or maximum efficiency for long-distance travel.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the GCC heat, featuring a high-output multi-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents. The 12.3-inch digital cockpit and central touchscreen provide seamless wireless smartphone integration, while the acoustic glazing keeps the interior remarkably quiet even at high cruising speeds. The M Sport steering wheel and premium leather upholstery provide a tactile sense of luxury that defines the executive segment.

Safety

This trim includes a comprehensive safety suite featuring Active Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Frontal Collision Warning, which are invaluable for fast-moving multi-lane traffic. Standard 360-degree parking sensors and a high-resolution rearview camera make navigating tight urban parking spots in Dubai Mall or Sowwah Square effortless. The vehicle is equipped with a full array of front, side, and curtain airbags, ensuring a 5-star safety environment for all five passengers.

The bottom line

For the professional who demands both performance and prestige, this GCC-spec 540i M Sport is a smarter alternative to a new 530i, offering the legendary B58 engine and the most desirable trim options at a significantly more accessible price point.
