Summary

This 2022 GLE450 4MATIC offers a perfect balance of efficiency and power thanks to its mild-hybrid inline-six engine, which remains a favorite in the UAE for its smooth highway performance. With relatively low mileage for its age and the popular white exterior, it is well-positioned for strong resale value in the local market. Compared to the four-cylinder GLE350, this variant provides the effortless overtaking ability needed for fast-moving GCC highways. As an American-spec vehicle, it offers high-end features at a more accessible entry point, though buyers should verify the specific maintenance history through a local specialist.

This Car vs Other 2022 GLE450s

With just over 38,800 km, this vehicle sits significantly below the typical GCC annual average of 20,000 km, representing roughly two years of normal regional use. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the Emirates, ensuring faster resale and better heat reflection during the summer months. Being an American-spec unit, it often includes premium interior packages that may be harder to find on base GCC-spec inventory at this price level.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

Choosing the GLE450 over the base GLE350 upgrades you from a four-cylinder to a more refined 3.0L inline-six engine with EQ Boost hybrid technology. This trim also standardizes the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and often includes larger 20-inch wheels and a higher standard of interior wood trim. The most significant regional advantage is the added torque from the mild-hybrid system, which aids in smoother stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh.

GLE450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLE450 leads rivals like the BMW X5 and Audi Q7 in cabin tech integration, featuring the dual 12.3-inch MBUX displays as standard. Its 630-liter boot provides superior practical storage for family weekend trips compared to many compact-luxury crossovers. Mercedes' 4MATIC system is highly regarded in the region for its predictable handling on gravel and sandy tracks during outdoor excursions.

Running Costs & Resale

The mild-hybrid powertrain delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 10.4 L/100km, which is impressive for a luxury SUV of this size in UAE traffic conditions. Service centers for Mercedes-Benz are ubiquitous across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring easy access to specialized maintenance. While American-spec cars typically depreciate slightly faster than GCC-spec equivalents, the lower initial cost and low mileage make this a high-value entry into the luxury segment.

Performance & Capability

The 381 hp turbocharged inline-six engine allows this SUV to reach 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, providing plenty of power for merging onto E11 highway traffic. The 48-volt hybrid system provides an extra 250 Nm of electric torque to eliminate turbo lag, ensuring linear acceleration. With 215 mm of ground clearance, it is well-suited for light off-road paths and navigating urban speed bumps with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat layout focuses on maximum legroom for second-row passengers, making it an ideal choice for executive commuting or small families. Standard features include the advanced MBUX infotainment system with voice control, powerful multi-zone climate control capable of handling 45°C+ summer heat, and high-quality acoustic insulation. The cabin remains remarkably quiet at highway speeds, a crucial factor for long-distance drives across the Emirates.

Safety

This GLE450 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including a 360-degree camera system for easy parking in tight mall spaces. Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Pre-Safe systems provide essential protection on busy multi-lane highways. The vehicle also features seven airbags as standard, ensuring a 5-star safety environment for all occupants.

The bottom line

This is a prime opportunity for a buyer looking for a low-mileage, powerful luxury SUV at a significantly lower cost than a local GCC-spec equivalent. It is the ideal regional daily driver for someone who values German engineering and smooth highway power.
