Summary

This 2022 Suzuki Dzire GLX is a standout choice for urban commuting in the GCC, offering exceptional fuel efficiency that rivals hybrids without the added complexity. With 86,000 km, the mileage is slightly above the regional average for its age, but as a GCC-spec model, it remains highly sought after for its mechanical resilience and strong local parts support. The gold exterior is a practical choice for the region, masking dust well and helping maintain a cooler cabin during peak summer months. In a segment focused on running costs, this Dzire leads with a reputation for bulletproof reliability and ease of parking. It is a smart, budget-conscious acquisition for anyone needing a dependable daily driver across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2022 Dzires

With 86,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven roughly 28,000 km per year, which is typical for a commuter sedan in the UAE where highway distances are significant. While the mileage is slightly higher than some low-use examples, it indicates a car that has been regularly exercised, preventing the common seals and battery issues found in stagnant vehicles. The gold finish is one of the most practical shades for the GCC, offering better heat reflection and maintenance characteristics than darker tones.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim provides a substantial upgrade over the base GL, most notably adding keyless entry with a push-button start and 15-inch alloy wheels that improve the car's stance and ride stability. Inside, you benefit from a height-adjustable driver’s seat and steering-mounted audio controls, which are essential for ergonomic comfort on longer drives. Crucially for GCC parking, the GLX includes factory-fitted rear parking sensors that are not standard on the entry-level model.

Dzire vs Segment Rivals

The Suzuki Dzire primarily competes with the Mitsubishi Attrage and the Hyundai Accent. While the Accent offers more power, the Dzire consistently outperforms its rivals in real-world fuel economy, making it the preferred choice for high-mileage drivers. Additionally, its compact sub-4-meter length provides a tighter turning circle than the Attrage, making it significantly easier to maneuver in dense city traffic and tight mall parking structures.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption is the Dzire's greatest strength, averaging a combined 6.0 L/100km, which translates to high savings at the pump for daily commuters. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and Suzuki's authorized network, led by Al Rostamani in the UAE, ensures parts are affordable and widely available. The Dzire enjoys strong value retention in the GCC used market due to its popularity with fleet operators and first-time buyers alike, generally depreciating at a slower rate than its European subcompact competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 1.2-litre 4-cylinder engine produces 82 hp, which is perfectly tuned for city efficiency and smooth cruising at highway speeds. While it is not designed for racing, the 0-100 km/h time of approximately 12.5 seconds is competitive for the budget sedan class and sufficient for merging onto fast-moving UAE highways. The light curb weight makes the car feel nimble, while the front-wheel-drive layout provides predictable handling in all weather conditions, including the occasional rain shower.

Comfort & Cabin

Despite its compact exterior, the Dzire offers a surprisingly spacious 5-seat cabin with 378 litres of boot space, enough for several large grocery bags or weekend luggage. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for high-ambient temperatures, ensuring the cabin reaches a comfortable climate quickly even in 45°C heat. The GLX interior features a more refined finish with wood-like accents and fabric seats that stay cooler to the touch than leather after the car has been parked in the sun.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of essential systems including dual front airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). This trim also features Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which are vital for maintaining control on sandy or uneven road surfaces. The inclusion of rear parking sensors in this GLX trim adds an extra layer of safety for daily urban use.

The bottom line

For the buyer prioritizing fuel economy and ease of ownership, this GCC-spec Dzire GLX offers a reliable, well-maintained package that is ready for immediate daily duty across the region.
