Summary

This 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR offers the perfect balance of the new LC300 generation's performance and the model's legendary regional dependability. Finished in White, the most sought-after resale color in the Middle East, it features the potent 3.5-turbocharged engine that significantly outperforms the base 4.0L variants in both highway overtaking and desert capability. While the mileage reflects typical highway use for a three-year-old vehicle in the GCC, the Land Cruiser’s robust engineering and unmatched parts availability make it the most sensible long-term investment in the segment. For any buyer prioritizing air-conditioning performance and long-term resale liquidity, this GCC-spec GXR remains the gold standard.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

With 85,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is average for a GCC-based Land Cruiser, where long-distance commutes between emirates are the norm. Its white exterior is a major advantage, consistently commanding the highest demand and fastest turnaround times in the local used market compared to darker shades. Being the 3.5L twin-turbo variant, it holds a higher value floor than the 4.0L naturally aspirated models from the same year.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim is the preferred choice for GCC buyers, adding essential comfort features over the entry-level EXR such as ventilated front seats and a larger infotainment display. It upgrades the cabin with premium upholstery and improved interior materials that better withstand the regional heat, while maintaining the same hardcore off-road hardware found in the flagship models. You also benefit from enhanced parking assistance and a wireless smartphone interface that are missing on base specifications.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads with a more modern 10-speed automatic transmission that optimizes the twin-turbo V6’s 650 Nm of torque. Its body-on-frame construction is widely regarded as the most durable for frequent desert excursions compared to European unibody rivals like the Land Rover Defender. The Toyota also benefits from a dual-tank system, providing superior total range for long-distance cross-border drives across the Saudi or Omani borders.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 averages approximately 12.1 L/100km, offering better efficiency than the previous generation's V8 while delivering more power. As a GCC-spec Toyota, it enjoys the most comprehensive service network in the region, with authorized centers in every major city from Dubai to Riyadh. The Land Cruiser maintains the lowest depreciation rate in its class, typically retaining 80-85% of its value after three years in the UAE market.

Performance & Capability

The 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 delivers a massive 409 hp, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 6.7 seconds—a remarkable figure for a full-sized SUV. It features a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case and selectable terrain modes designed specifically for soft sand and rocky wadis. With a maximum ground clearance of 235 mm and high-mounted air intakes, it is engineered to handle extreme summer temperatures and flooding during the rainy season without compromise.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for the Gulf climate, featuring a high-output multi-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents that ensure passenger comfort even in 50°C heat. The GXR trim includes a cooled center console (Cool Box) to keep beverages chilled during long desert trips and highway drives. The seating is configured for maximum versatility, with a power-folding third row that allows for easy transition between large family trips and maximum cargo haulage.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this GXR includes a comprehensive suite of airbags, including driver and passenger knee protection, and a 5-star ANCAP safety rating. For fast-moving GCC highways, it features Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Vehicle Stability Control to maintain composure during sudden maneuvers. The inclusion of front and rear parking sensors along with a high-definition camera system makes navigating this large SUV in tight urban spaces significantly safer.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec GXR is the ideal choice for a family or enthusiast who wants the power of the twin-turbo engine with the market's strongest resale protection. It represents a turn-key opportunity to own the region's most respected SUV in its most popular configuration.
