Summary

This 2023 Chevrolet Captiva Premier is a highly practical choice for GCC families, offering seven seats in a maneuverable compact SUV footprint. As the top-of-the-line Premier trim, it features upgraded cabin technology and essential safety equipment like side-impact airbags that are missing from lower trims. The black exterior is a strong choice for the local used market, typically holding its value better than more niche colors during resale. With its efficient 1.5L turbocharged engine, this Captiva balances the space needs of a large family with the running costs of a much smaller vehicle. For any buyer in the region looking for maximum seating capacity and modern tech without a full-size SUV price tag, this specific listing is a standout option.

This Car vs Other 2023 Captivas

At 86,000 km, this Captiva has been driven roughly 43,000 km per year, which is above the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km. While the mileage is higher than some counterparts, it reflects the typical long-distance highway use common between emirates, and the car's 2023 model year ensures it still carries modern features and a fresh design. The black color further enhances its appeal, as it is one of the most desirable and stable colors for resale in the UAE and wider GCC market.

PREMIER vs Lower Trims

The Premier trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the LS and LT variants by adding essential GCC-friendly features. Most notably, it includes a 360-degree 'HD Surround Vision' camera and front parking sensors, making it far easier to park in tight city spaces. Inside, the Premier adds a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, and a larger 7-inch digital driver information display, alongside a more premium six-speaker audio system.

Captiva vs Segment Rivals

The Chevrolet Captiva occupies a unique position against rivals like the MG RX5 or Mitsubishi Outlander by offering one of the most affordable seven-seat configurations in the segment. While competitors often prioritize off-road hardware, the Captiva leads with cabin technology, featuring a massive 10.4-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen that rivals more expensive luxury brands. Its monocoque construction and front-wheel-drive layout ensure it is more car-like and easier to drive in stop-start city traffic than traditional body-on-frame SUVs.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a major strength, with the 1.5L turbo engine delivering approximately 14.6 km/L, helping to mitigate the costs of frequent city driving and long-range highway commutes. Chevrolet maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and maintenance expertise are always accessible. While it experiences higher initial depreciation than some Japanese competitors, the Captiva's low entry price and high demand for affordable seven-seaters help it maintain a steady value floor in the used market.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L turbocharged engine produces 149 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque, providing adequate punch for highway overtaking while maintaining excellent fuel economy. Mated to a smooth CVT, the powertrain is designed for refined urban commuting and comfortable family road trips rather than heavy off-roading. With 18-inch alloy wheels and a front-wheel-drive setup, it offers a stable and predictable ride quality well-suited for the UAE's well-maintained highway network.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for family logistics, featuring a flexible 7-seat layout with second-row seats that tumble forward for easy access to the rear. GCC-specific comfort is handled by a dedicated air conditioning system with vents for every row, ensuring all passengers stay cool during the extreme summer months. The Premier trim further elevates the interior with leatherette upholstery and a panoramic sunroof that adds a sense of space and light to the three-row cabin.

Safety

Safety is a priority in the Premier trim, which comes standard with six airbags—including front, side, and curtain protection—providing a significant safety net for all three rows. It also features a comprehensive suite of active safety tech such as Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, and Hill Start Assist, which are particularly valuable for maintaining grip on sandy or rain-slicked road surfaces. The inclusion of a 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors provides the driver with maximum visibility in crowded urban environments.

The bottom line

This 2023 Captiva Premier is the perfect opportunity for a growing family to secure a top-trim, tech-heavy SUV that is economical to run and easy to maintain across the GCC.
