Summary

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a flagship luxury sedan with the legendary V12 power plant, a configuration that is becoming increasingly scarce in the modern market. As a 2023 model with European specifications, it represents the absolute peak of modern automotive engineering and interior craftsmanship. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the GCC, ensuring it remains highly liquid and holds its value better than darker alternatives during resale. With the European configuration, you are getting a meticulously built specimen that often features higher-grade interior materials and exclusive trim options not always found in other regional distributions. This model stands out visually through its extended wheelbase and signature branding, offering a level of presence that competitors simply cannot match on the roads of Dubai or Riyadh. For the discerning buyer, the combination of its age and the prestige of the V12 engine makes it a superior choice over the more common V8 variants. The most important consideration for a GCC buyer is the sheer rarity of this engine, which is likely to transition into a collector's item in the coming years.

This Car vs Other 2023 S 680s

When comparing this 2023 model to others on the market, the primary advantage is its pristine condition and the prestige of its European origin. In the GCC, these vehicles are often used as executive transports for long-distance highway travel between Emirates, but this specific example shows the meticulous care expected of a high-tier import. The white exterior paint is a strategic choice for the local market, as it deflects the intense desert sun and significantly aids the air conditioning system's efficiency. Compared to higher mileage local units that may have endured heavy stop-and-go city traffic, a European spec car of this vintage often reflects more gentle primary usage. This combination of the 2023 model year and the preferred resale color makes it a highly competitive entry in the pre-owned segment. It offers the benefit of recent technology without the steep initial depreciation found on brand-new floor models.

MAYBACH vs Lower Trims

Opting for this trim over the standard S-Class variants provides a transformative difference in both performance and cabin appointment that GCC buyers prioritize. While the standard models utilize V6 or V8 engines, this trim is powered by the magnificent 6.0L V12, offering a level of effortless torque and smoothness required for high-speed highway cruising. The wheelbase is significantly longer than a standard long-wheelbase S-Class, providing a massive increase in rear legroom that is essential for chauffeur-driven owners. Interior features like the executive rear seating package, calf rests, and specialized champagne flutes are standard here, whereas they are options or unavailable on lower trims. You also receive the Burmester High-End 4D Surround Sound system as a standard inclusion, which is widely considered one of the best audio experiences in the automotive world. The exterior is also distinct, featuring a unique grille design and C-pillar emblems that signal its status immediately.

S 680 vs Segment Rivals

In the upper echelons of luxury, this model competes primarily with the Rolls-Royce Ghost and the Bentley Flying Spur. While its British rivals lean into traditional charm, this car leads the segment in integrated technology and MBUX infotainment sophistication. It provides a more modern and intuitive interface for the driver while maintaining a rear-seat experience that rivals a private jet. For the GCC driver, the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system provides superior stability during occasional rain-slicked highway runs or when traversing sandy pavement edges. The fuel tank capacity is generous, allowing for long-distance journeys across the GCC without frequent stops for petrol. Furthermore, the insulation and cabin cooling capabilities are engineered to a higher standard than many rivals, ensuring the interior remains a sanctuary even when the outside temperature exceeds 45 degrees Celsius.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a V12 flagship in the GCC involves specialized maintenance, but the reward is a driving experience unlike any other. Real-world fuel consumption reflects the high-displacement engine, typically averaging around 14 to 16 liters per 100km depending on how much time is spent in Abu Dhabi or Dubai traffic. Because this is a European spec car, buyers should ensure they utilize a reputable service center that has experience with international diagnostic software, though parts for the W223 platform are generally available through established UAE networks. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 kilometers, involving comprehensive checks of the complex air suspension and engine cooling systems. Historically, these V12 models command a premium in the used market because of their discontinued nature in many regions. While luxury sedans typically depreciate by 12-15% annually in the GCC, the rarity of the 680 badge helps it maintain a stronger floor than the high-volume 580 models. Value retention at the three-year mark is bolstered by the high demand for top-tier luxury in markets like Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this vehicle is a hand-assembled 6.0-liter V12 engine producing a staggering 621 horsepower. This allows the massive sedan to reach 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, providing the kind of effortless acceleration needed for overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. Unlike smaller engines that may strain under high load and heat, the V12 operates with a quiet confidence that defines the car's character. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system works in tandem with rear-axle steering, making this long-wheelbase car surprisingly agile in tight city corners in downtown Riyadh or Dubai Marina. Drive modes allow the pilot to transition from a soft, cloud-like ride to a more composed setting for high-speed stability. The air suspension is specifically tuned to filter out road imperfections, making the longest trans-national drives feel remarkably short. With over 900 Nm of torque available, the power delivery is instantaneous regardless of the current speed.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a masterpiece of Nappa leather, fine wood veneers, and advanced digital interfaces. The 5-seat configuration is versatile, but it is the rear compartment that truly shines with its individual reclining seats and center console controls. For the GCC climate, the ventilated and heated seats in both the front and rear are non-negotiable luxuries that perform exceptionally well. The quad-zone climate control system is one of the most powerful in the world, capable of chilling the cabin rapidly even after the car has been parked in the sun. Active road noise compensation and thick laminated glass create a nearly silent environment, isolating passengers from the roar of highway traffic. The Burmester 4D sound system actually uses exciters in the seats to allow you to feel the music, adding a unique sensory layer to the experience. Rear-seat passengers also benefit from specialized tablets to control every aspect of the ambient lighting and massage functions.

Safety

Safety is paramount in this flaghsip, featuring a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems that monitor the road in every direction. The Distronic adaptive cruise control is particularly effective for the long, straight highways of the UAE, maintaining a safe distance and even assisting with lane changes autonomously. Blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist are vital on multi-lane highways where traffic speeds vary significantly. This model also includes specialized rear-seat airbags, a rare feature that provides enhanced protection for the principal passengers. Pre-Safe Impulse Side technology can actually lift the car slightly if a side impact is detected to direct the force into the strongest part of the chassis. These active systems work together to provide a safety net that is often an optional extra on competing luxury brands but comes standard here.

The bottom line

This 2023 V12 flagship is the ultimate choice for a buyer who wants the peak of internal combustion engineering before it disappears. For a luxury enthusiast in the GCC, the combination of the white exterior and the rare 680 trim offers the perfect balance of immediate prestige and long-term collectibility.
