Summary

This 2025 Geely Starray GL is a modern, tech-forward crossover that has covered 22,155 km in its first year, placing it exactly on track with typical GCC annual usage. Finished in Black, a high-demand color for resale in the local market, this GL trim offers the core turbocharged performance shared with the higher-end variants. As a one-year-old vehicle, it provides a significant saving over new showroom prices while retaining the balance of its manufacturer warranty. The Starray stands out in the UAE market for its Volvo-derived chassis architecture, offering a level of driving refinement and safety tech that punches well above its price bracket. For a GCC buyer looking for a stylish family SUV that handles high-speed highway commutes with ease, this listing represents a smart, low-risk entry into one of the region's fastest-growing brands.

This Car vs Other 2025 Starrays

With 22,155 km on the clock, this Starray sits at the healthy average for a one-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where 20,000 to 25,000 km is the standard annual expectation. The Black exterior is one of the most resilient colors for resale in the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring better value retention compared to niche shades. It has been driven within normal parameters, suggesting it hasn't faced the excessive wear often seen in high-mileage commuter vehicles.

GL vs Lower Trims

As the foundational GL trim in the GCC, this model already includes the high-resolution 13.2-inch vertical infotainment screen and a full digital instrument cluster that many rivals only offer on top-tier specs. It retains the same 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and 7-speed DCT found in the GK and GF trims, meaning you get the peak performance of the range without the premium price of additional cosmetic add-ons. It provides the essential tech suite, including cruise control and a rear-view camera, which are vital for daily UAE highway and city driving.

Starray vs Segment Rivals

The Starray leads many Japanese and Korean rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sportage in terms of raw cabin technology and interior screen real estate. Built on the CMA platform shared with Volvo, it offers a more composed highway ride and better high-speed stability than many traditional compact SUVs. Its 650-liter boot space is also among the most generous in its class, making it a superior choice for family airport runs or weekend road trips.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0T engine averages around 7.4L/100km on combined cycles, though GCC city traffic may see figures closer to 10-11L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and Geely’s rapidly expanding authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures easy access to parts and maintenance. While Chinese brands generally face steeper initial depreciation than Japanese stalwarts, the Starray’s shared technology with Volvo is helping it maintain stronger 3-year residual values than previous generations.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers a punchy 218 hp, allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 8.2 seconds, which is more than enough for confident overtaking on the E11. The 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission is tuned for smooth shifts, providing a relaxed experience during long cross-emirate drives. Multiple drive modes, including Sport and Eco, allow you to calibrate the steering and throttle response to suit either congested city traffic or open desert highways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is defined by a massive 13.2-inch vertical tablet that manages most vehicle functions, creating a clean, futuristic cockpit environment. With a 2777mm wheelbase, rear legroom is exceptionally generous, easily accommodating three adults for longer journeys between cities. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the GCC climate, featuring dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers remain cool during the peak summer months.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this GL trim includes a comprehensive suite of airbags, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to maintain traction on sandy or rain-slicked roads. It also features rear parking sensors and a high-definition rear-view camera to simplify maneuvering in tight urban parking spots. The high-strength steel construction provides a solid safety cell, consistent with the brand's focus on global safety standards.

The bottom line

Perfect for the tech-savvy professional or young family, this 2025 Starray offers near-new performance and a striking Black aesthetic at a significant market discount.
