Summary

This 2025 Kia Sonet EX represents a compelling opportunity in the GCC used market, offering near-new vehicle benefits with the depreciation of the first 36,000 km already settled. Finished in White, the region's most popular resale color, this GCC-spec crossover is perfectly suited for the local climate and high-speed highway commutes. As the mid-high EX trim, it strikes a perfect balance between premium features and the legendary fuel efficiency of Kia’s 1.5L Smartstream engine. Whether navigating tight urban spaces in Dubai or heading on a weekend trip to Salalah, the Sonet remains a top-tier choice for those prioritizing low running costs and strong long-term value retention.

This Car vs Other 2025 Kia Sonets

With 36,304 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven slightly above the GCC annual average, yet it remains mechanically young and well within its manufacturer warranty period. The White exterior is a significant advantage in this market, traditionally holding its value better and reflecting heat more effectively than darker alternatives. In a segment where many examples are used for heavy delivery work, this EX trim stands out as a well-maintained personal crossover.

EX vs Lower Trims

Choosing the EX over the base LX adds essential features that define the GCC driving experience, including a smart key system with a remote engine start—ideal for pre-cooling the cabin during summer. It also upgrades the exterior with 16-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels and roof rails, while the interior gains a 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear-view camera, and crucial front and rear parking sensors.

Sonet vs Segment Rivals

The Sonet leads rivals like the Toyota Raize and Nissan Magnite by offering a more refined 4-cylinder engine compared to their 3-cylinder alternatives, resulting in smoother highway cruising. Its 190 mm ground clearance and 392-litre boot space make it more practical for GCC family life and light weekend adventures. Additionally, Kia's technology interface is widely regarded as more intuitive and responsive than many competitors in the sub-compact class.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a primary strength, with a manufacturer-official 5.7 L/100km combined rating that allows for significant savings during long-distance drives across the Emirates. Kia’s service network is one of the most robust in the GCC, with authorized centers readily available in every major city from Riyadh to Muscat. Resale value for the Sonet remains high due to its reputation for reliability and the widespread availability of affordable genuine parts.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine produces 115 hp, providing a reliable and unstressed performance profile suited for long-term ownership in high-temperature environments. Mated to a smooth CVT (IVT) transmission, it reaches a top speed of 170 km/h with stable handling characteristics at highway speeds. Three selectable drive modes—Eco, Normal, and Sport—allow the driver to prioritize either fuel saving or responsiveness depending on the traffic conditions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the heat, featuring a high-performance air conditioning system with dedicated rear cooling vents to keep all five passengers comfortable. The EX trim includes height-adjustable driver seating and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, enhancing the tactile feel of the interior. Cabin insulation is notably effective for the segment, providing a quiet environment even during fast-paced highway travel between emirates.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this EX trim includes an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) which is vital for monitoring tire health in extreme heat. The vehicle is equipped with dual front airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors, along with Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) to prevent rollback on inclined exits and parking structures.

The bottom line

For the smart buyer seeking a 2025 model that balances modern tech with exceptional fuel economy, this GCC-spec EX trim in white is the definitive practical choice.
