Changan CS55 Plus STANDARD LUXURY OPTION

• 190 km/h top speed
• 475 litres boot space

Summary

This 2026 Changan CS55 Plus offers a high-tech entry into the compact SUV segment, powered by the efficient Blue Whale 1.5T engine. Its white exterior is a top choice for the GCC market, ensuring better heat reflection and maintaining the strongest possible resale demand locally. While many rivals in this price bracket feel basic, this model stands out with its sharp LED lighting and a sophisticated multi-link rear suspension that handles high-speed highway damping better than most budget crossovers. As a Chinese-spec import, it provides a significantly lower entry price, making it an ideal choice for buyers who want a brand-new 2026 experience without the premium of a local dealer markup. The most important ownership factor is its modern turbocharged powertrain, which delivers smooth overtaking power for the fast-paced driving typical in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

This Car vs Other 2026 CS55 Pluses

With zero mileage, this 2026 model represents the absolute newest generation of the CS55 Plus, featuring the updated 192 hp engine map. Compared to older iterations still found in the market, this version offers improved 500-bar fuel injection for better efficiency. The white finish is the gold standard for resale in the region, ensuring it stays cooler under the summer sun and appeals to the widest pool of buyers later on.

STD vs Lower Trims

The STD trim serves as the essential gateway to the 2026 range, retaining the same potent 1.5T engine and 7-speed wet DCT found in the flagship models. Unlike basic crossovers from other brands, even this standard configuration includes the dual-screen digital cockpit and rear air vents as standard. It avoids the added electronic complexity of the higher trims while keeping the core luxury and safety features GCC drivers expect.

CS55 Plus vs Segment Rivals

The CS55 Plus holds a clear lead over rivals like the Toyota Corolla Cross and MG ZS in terms of pure power, delivering a verified 192 hp that makes highway merging effortless. Its 51-litre fuel tank and sub-7L/100km fuel rating offer a cruising range of approximately 750 km, perfect for cross-emirate commutes. Additionally, its cabin insulation and multi-link suspension provide a more refined ride than the torsion-beam setups common in this price class.

Running Costs & Resale

Expect real-world fuel consumption of approximately 6.9 L/100 km on the highway and roughly 8.5 L/100 km in heavy stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are typically recommended every 10,000 km, with authorized service centers and specialized workshops for Changan now widely available across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While Chinese-spec imports depreciate faster than GCC-spec equivalents, the initial price saving often offsets the resale difference over a three-year ownership period.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine produces a healthy 192 hp and 310 Nm of torque, allowing for a 0–100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds. The 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is specifically designed to handle heat better than dry-clutch alternatives, providing smooth shifts even in high-temperature city traffic. With 188 mm of unladen ground clearance, it comfortably manages gravel tracks and high speed-bumps, though it remains a front-wheel-drive vehicle best suited for paved roads and light weekend excursions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is built for five adults, featuring a virtually flat rear floor that provides ample legroom for middle-seat passengers during long drives. Standard air conditioning includes dedicated rear vents, a critical feature for maintaining passenger comfort during the intense GCC summer months. The boot space is a practical 475 litres, which can expand to over 1,400 litres with the rear seats folded, easily accommodating large grocery runs or family luggage.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes multiple airbags and an ultra-high-strength body structure designed for crash protection. Active safety features such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control (TCS), and Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS) are standard, providing vital assistance on sandy or rain-slicked roads. The inclusion of Hill Hold Control and Hill Descent Control makes navigating the steep ramps of multi-story parking structures or hilly terrain safer and more intuitive.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants a brand-new 2026 SUV with premium tech at a fraction of the cost, this CS55 Plus is the most logical choice in the current market.
