Summary

This 997.2-generation icon represents a rare find in the GCC market, combining open-top motoring with the peak of Porsche's 2012 engineering. With exceptionally low mileage for its age, it serves as a highly collectible bridge between the classic 911 silhouette and modern performance. The All-Wheel Drive system and PDK transmission make this a surgical tool for the UAE's high-speed highways, while the silver exterior remains the gold standard for regional resale value. For the serious buyer, this Turbo S offers the prestige of a supercar with the everyday usability that only a 911 can provide.

This Car vs Other 2012 911s

At just 13,000 km, this Turbo S has covered significantly less ground than the typical 200,000 km+ expected for a vehicle of this vintage in the GCC. While many 911s from this era have been used as daily commuters, this example presents as a preserved weekend car. The Canadian regional specification means it has been spared the decade of extreme GCC thermal cycles often seen in local-spec cars, though buyers should ensure a local inspection of the cooling system for Dubai's peak summer conditions.

TURBO S vs Lower Trims

Moving to the Turbo S from a standard Turbo adds 30 hp and standardizes high-performance hardware that was previously optional. It features Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) as standard, identifiable by the yellow calipers, which provide fade-free stopping power essential for high-temperature driving. Additionally, the Turbo S includes the Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) as standard, significantly sharpening cornering response compared to the Carrera or standard Turbo models.

911 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Ferrari 458 Spider or the Audi R8 V10 Spyder, the 911 Turbo S stands out for its superior All-Wheel Drive traction and larger fuel tank, making it a more capable grand tourer for long cross-emirate drives. While Italian rivals offer more theatrical engine notes, the Porsche provides a more robust interior and a more reliable PDK transmission that handles stop-start traffic in Riyadh or Dubai with far greater composure.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine typically averages 11.4 L/100km on a combined cycle, though city driving in heavy traffic will see this increase. Porsche has a strong authorized service presence through Al Nabooda in the UAE and Samaco in Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts for the 997.2 generation remain readily available. This specific model year and trim hold value exceptionally well in the GCC, with the Turbo S specifically benefiting from a slower depreciation curve than the base Carrera models due to its flagship status.

Performance & Capability

The 530 hp output allows for a blistering 0–100 km/h sprint of just 3.3 seconds, rivaling modern supercars even a decade after its release. Porsche’s active all-wheel drive and dynamic engine mounts ensure the car remains planted during high-speed overtaking on the E11 or E311 highways. The convertible top is engineered to remain stable and quiet even when approaching the vehicle's 315 km/h top speed, providing a refined cabin experience regardless of the pace.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a 2+2 layout featuring adaptive sports seats that provide excellent lateral support during spirited driving. The silver exterior is perfectly paired with high-quality leather and Bose premium audio, creating a luxury environment that resists the region's intense solar heat better than darker interiors. Powerful air conditioning, a hallmark of Porsche engineering, ensures the cabin remains chilled even during the UAE's peak summer months.

Safety

Safety is anchored by the massive Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), which offer superior heat resistance and shorter stopping distances than traditional steel discs. The car is equipped with Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and advanced traction control, providing a safety net on sandy or oil-slicked road surfaces. Front and side airbags, along with reinforced rollover protection specific to the convertible body, offer comprehensive occupant safety during high-speed travel.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage 997.2 Turbo S in the most resilient resale color, offering a perfect balance of investment potential and raw performance for the GCC enthusiast.
