• 6.6 L/100km combined fuel consumption
• 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating (2012)

Summary

This 12-year-old hatchback presents an excellent balance of German engineering and urban practicality for the GCC market. As the SPORT trim, it features the iconic diamond grille and a punchy 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that remains highly relevant for both Dubai commutes and highway stretches to Abu Dhabi. The Red exterior is a vibrant, premium choice that holds its appeal well in a market often dominated by neutral tones. While the mileage reflects a car that has been regularly used, its GCC specification ensures the cooling systems and interior materials are built to withstand the regional heat. This model remains a top choice for those wanting Mercedes-Benz prestige in a compact, fuel-efficient package.

This Car vs Other 2014 A250s

With 155,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has covered approximately 12,900 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. This lower-than-expected usage suggests less mechanical wear than typical local examples of this age. The Red exterior is a standout choice that differentiates it from the common white and silver listings, often attracting enthusiast buyers.

SPORT vs Lower Trims

The SPORT trim is a major step up from the standard A-Class, most notably adding the high-gloss 'diamond' radiator grille and 18-inch AMG 5-spoke alloy wheels. It also features a lowered sports suspension and a more responsive steering rack for a better driving feel on well-paved UAE roads. Inside, you get sport seats finished in ARTICO leather and DINAMICA microfibre with distinctive red contrasting topstitching.

A250 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Volkswagen Golf GTI or the BMW 1 Series, the A250 offers a more premium cabin aesthetic and the prestige of the three-pointed star. It leads the segment in aerodynamic efficiency, which helps maintain a quiet cabin during high-speed highway cruising between emirates. While the BMW 1 Series focuses on rear-wheel-drive dynamics, the Mercedes provides a more balanced and comfortable ride quality for daily city traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages 6.6 L/100km, making it one of the more economical premium options for the daily GCC commute. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a wide network of authorized Mercedes-Benz service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts availability remains high. The A-Class hatchback maintains a steady depreciation curve in the local market, generally retaining value better than its non-GCC spec counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine produces a healthy 211 hp and 350 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.6 seconds. This power is managed by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that provides smooth shifts for city driving and instant power for highway overtaking. With a top speed of 240 km/h, it is perfectly suited for the UAE's fast-moving multi-lane highway infrastructure.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed with a driver-centric focus, featuring carbon-fiber look trim and a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel. GCC-essential features include a powerful climate control system and dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers remain cool during the peak summer months. The hatchback configuration provides 341 litres of boot space, which expands significantly with the rear seats folded, offering surprising practicality for weekend trips.

Safety

Safety is a primary highlight, with the model carrying a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. It comes equipped with seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag, and Mercedes-Benz's Attention Assist to monitor for driver fatigue on long desert drives. Other standard safety features on this trim include Collision Prevention Assist and an active bonnet for improved pedestrian protection.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec A250 SPORT is a fantastic opportunity for a young professional or small family seeking a premium German hatchback that has been driven well below the regional average mileage. Its combination of sports styling, high safety standards, and fuel efficiency makes it a smart buy in the current UAE used market.
