Summary

This 2015 Ford Taurus SEL is a quintessential executive sedan for the GCC, offering a level of highway refinement and cabin volume that remains highly competitive. With its 3.5L V6 engine and GCC-specific cooling, it is purpose-built to handle long-distance desert commutes with ease. The brown exterior is a practical choice for the region, effectively masking dust while maintaining a professional appearance. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from a wide network of service centres across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring long-term maintainability. For a buyer seeking maximum comfort and trunk space without the luxury-brand premium, this SEL trim provides the ideal balance of features and durability.

This Car vs Other 2015 Ford Tauruses

With 185,000 km, this Taurus sits within the expected mileage range for a high-quality highway cruiser in the GCC market. The brown metallic finish is a strategic choice for regional buyers, as it retains its luster better under the intense sun compared to darker shades, supporting a stable resale position. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the common service and cooling issues often found in imported American-spec alternatives.

SEL vs Lower Trims

The SEL trim provides significant upgrades over the base SE, most notably the dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, which is essential for passenger comfort during GCC summers. It also adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, SiriusXM capability, and the convenience of a remote start system, allowing you to cool the cabin before entering. The inclusion of reverse sensing systems alongside the standard camera makes parking this large sedan much simpler in tight city spaces.

Taurus vs Segment Rivals

The Taurus leads its primary rivals, the Chevrolet Impala and Toyota Avalon, in pure cargo utility with a massive 569-litre trunk that easily accommodates full-size family luggage. Its heavy-duty chassis and sound insulation provide a quieter highway ride than many Japanese competitors, making it a preferred choice for the Dubai-Abu Dhabi commute. The 19-gallon fuel tank also offers a superior range for long-distance cross-border drives compared to smaller-capacity sedans.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.5L V6 averages approximately 10.2 L/100km on the highway, though GCC city traffic will see this rise to roughly 12.4 L/100km. Ford’s authorized service network is among the strongest in the region, with parts readily available in every major city from Kuwait to Oman. While American sedans face higher initial depreciation than Japanese brands, the Taurus holds its value well in the UAE due to its popularity with government fleets and executive transport services.

Performance & Capability

The 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 delivers a robust 288 horsepower, providing smooth and confident overtaking power on fast-moving UAE motorways. Mated to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, the power delivery is linear and geared toward comfort rather than aggressive shifts. The front-wheel-drive setup is optimized for stability, and the AdvanceTrac electronic stability control ensures the car remains composed on sand-dusted road surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five adults with class-leading shoulder room, ensuring comfort even on multi-hour journeys. The SEL trim’s air conditioning is specifically calibrated for the GCC, featuring powerful blowers and rear-seat vents to ensure the entire cabin reaches temperature quickly. Acoustic glass and extensive insulation keep the interior remarkably quiet, shielding occupants from both road noise and the high outside heat common in the region.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the Taurus, featuring a comprehensive suite of front, side, and curtain airbags as standard. The 2015 model includes AdvanceTrac stability control and a SOS Post-Crash Alert System, which are particularly valuable on high-speed desert highways. The SEL trim’s standard reverse sensing system and rear-view camera provide essential visibility when maneuvering this full-size sedan in crowded urban areas.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Taurus is the perfect match for a professional or family driver who prioritises effortless highway cruising and massive cargo capacity at a highly accessible price point.
