• Multi-zone climate control standard

Summary

This 2014 sedan represents the final and most refined year of the W204 generation, offering a perfect entry point into the Mercedes-Benz ownership experience. Finished in Grey, a color that holds its appeal exceptionally well in the GCC used market, it provides a sophisticated look that masks the region's dust. As an American spec model, it features a higher level of cabin technology and infotainment than typical regional counterparts. This trim is powered by the smooth 3.5-liter V6, delivering a much more authoritative highway presence than the smaller four-cylinder variants. While the mileage is higher than average, this generation is widely regarded by GCC mechanics for its mechanical simplicity and robust build quality.

This Car vs Other 2014 C300s

With 252,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC, indicating it has likely served as a dedicated highway commuter. In the local market, Grey remains one of the top three resale colors, ensuring better liquidity than bolder shades. Being a 2014 model, it benefits from the latest production updates of this generation, making it a more reliable choice than earlier 2011 or 2012 versions.

AVANTGARDE SPORTS vs Lower Trims

The Avantgarde Sports trim significantly upgrades the driving experience over the base Luxury or standard trims with a more aggressive suspension tune and larger 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, you receive aluminum cabin inlays and a sports steering wheel that are not found on lower tiers. It also features the signature 'dinner-plate' emblem integrated into the grille, providing a much more modern and sporty aesthetic compared to the traditional hood-ornament look.

C300 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the BMW 328i or Audi A4 of the same era, the C300 stands out with its naturally aspirated V6 engine, providing smoother power delivery and fewer turbo-related maintenance concerns in high-heat conditions. Its 66-liter fuel tank is specifically advantageous for long-distance drives across the Emirates, offering a longer cruising range than several key competitors. The interior build quality of the W204 generation is often cited as being more durable against the intense GCC sun compared to the plastics used in contemporary rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.5L V6 averages approximately 10.5 L/100km in combined GCC driving, reflecting both fast-moving highway traffic and urban congestion. As a Mercedes-Benz, the authorized service network is extensive across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, though as an American spec, owners should utilize independent specialists familiar with US-market electronics. While European sedans generally depreciate at 12–18% annually in the region, the 2014 model year has largely stabilized, offering a predictable value floor for the next owner.

Performance & Capability

The direct-injected V6 produces 248 hp, allowing for a 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.1 seconds, which remains competitive for modern highway merging. The 7-speed automatic transmission is tuned for refinement, providing effortless high-speed cruising between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. While this specific model is American spec, it retains the communicative steering and stable high-speed manners that made the W204 a favorite among driving enthusiasts in the Middle East.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five occupants, featuring high-quality MB-Tex simulated leather that is notably resistant to the cracking often caused by extreme heat. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard, ensuring the front passengers stay cool even during peak summer months. The 'Sports' interior adds bolstered seating, which provides better support during longer cross-border journeys or spirited weekend drives.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with eight airbags and Mercedes-Benz's Electronic Stability Program (ESP) standard, providing vital assistance on sandy or rain-slicked surfaces. This trim includes the Pre-Safe system, which prepares the cabin for a collision if a skid is detected, a feature that was ahead of its time in 2014. For the GCC driver, the standard Attention Assist system is particularly helpful for maintaining alertness during long, repetitive desert highway stretches.

The bottom line

This C300 is an ideal choice for a budget-conscious buyer looking for a prestigious, V6-powered daily driver that has already passed its steepest depreciation curve.
