Summary

This 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML400 represents a refined entry into the luxury SUV market, offering a more modern twin-turbo powertrain than the older ML350 models. The black exterior is a perennial favorite in the GCC, ensuring strong resale demand and a timeless executive presence on the road. With 150,000 km, this vehicle has been driven typical highway distances for a luxury SUV in the region and remains a mechanically robust choice for cross-emirate commuting. It strikes a professional balance between family practicality and the prestige of the three-pointed star. The ML400 is particularly noted for its smooth power delivery, making it a comfortable long-distance cruiser for the Gulf climate.

This Car vs Other 2015 ML400s

With 150,000 km on the odometer, this ML400 sits right at the expected average for a 2015 model in the GCC, where annual highway use typically reaches 20,000 km. While many examples on the market are high-mileage imports, this GCC-spec unit benefits from a cooling system and interior materials designed specifically to withstand the intense local heat. The black exterior is one of the top three most desirable colors in the UAE and Saudi markets, significantly aiding future resale value.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The ML400 serves as a significant mechanical upgrade over the ML350, replacing the naturally aspirated engine with a more efficient and powerful 3.0L biturbo V6. This trim typically includes the COMAND infotainment system with a larger display and enhanced leather upholstery as standard. GCC buyers will appreciate the upgraded climate control capacity that comes standard on the ML400, ensuring the cabin stays chilled even during peak summer afternoons.

ML400 vs Segment Rivals

The ML400 competes directly with the BMW X5 xDrive35i and the Lexus RX, leading the group in terms of perceived cabin solidity and highway refinement. Its 93-litre fuel tank is larger than many rivals, providing superior range for long-distance desert highway drives between major cities. While the Lexus offers legendary reliability, the Mercedes provides a more planted, high-speed stability that is better suited for the fast-moving multi-lane roads of the UAE and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the biturbo V6 averages around 12L/100km, though this can rise to 14L in heavy stop-start traffic in Downtown Dubai or Abu Dhabi. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is supported by a massive network of Gargash, Emirates Moto, and Juffali service centers across the region, ensuring parts are always in stock. While European luxury SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese alternatives, the ML400 maintains a steady 12-15% annual value retention thanks to its popular engine configuration and GCC credentials.

Performance & Capability

The ML400 delivers a prompt 0-100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on the E11 highway. The 480 Nm of torque is available from low RPMs, which is ideal for maintaining composure when fully loaded with a family and luggage. While primarily road-focused, the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system provides necessary traction for gravel tracks or sandy patches encountered during weekend outings to the farm or beach.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the five-seat layout offers generous legroom and a massive 833-litre boot, perfect for airport runs or large grocery hauls. The air conditioning is engineered for the Gulf, featuring powerful compressors and rear-seat vents to ensure all passengers remain cool. Acoustic glass and high-grade insulation keep the cabin remarkably quiet, shielding occupants from road noise during long-duration highway travel.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a comprehensive airbag system, Pre-Safe collision preparation, and Attention Assist to monitor driver fatigue during long desert stretches. The ML-Class achieved high safety marks in global testing, featuring robust door-sill reinforcements and electronic stability programs specifically tuned to handle sudden maneuvers on hot asphalt. Its heavy curb weight and advanced traction control provide a secure feeling in the unpredictable rain showers that occasionally hit the region.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a prestigious, GCC-ready SUV that balances modern twin-turbo performance with a classic aesthetic, this ML400 is a reliable and well-positioned choice.
