Summary

This 2016 Lexus GS350 Platinum offers a refined balance of executive luxury and reliable performance, featuring a smooth V6 engine that is perfectly suited for the UAE's high-speed highway commutes. While the mileage reflects active use across the region, these engines are famous for their longevity, often reaching 300,000 km and beyond with routine care. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the GCC, maintaining its appearance well against desert dust while supporting strong resale interest. As a facelifted 2016 model, you benefit from the updated spindle grille and modernized cabin tech that keeps it competitive against newer rivals. For the buyer who values Lexus dependability over the high maintenance costs of German alternatives, this is a versatile daily driver.

This Car vs Other 2016 GS350s

With 243,000 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 30,000 km per year, which is slightly above the GCC average of 25,000 km but typical for professional commuters. In the UAE market, high-mileage Lexus models are often preferred over lower-mileage European rivals because of their proven mechanical durability and affordable parts. The Grey finish is one of the top three resale colors in the region, offering a significant advantage when it comes time to trade in.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim is the high-luxury flagship for the GS350, adding a 12.3-inch high-resolution multimedia screen and a premium Mark Levinson surround-sound system that are rarely found in the base models. It also includes upgraded climate control and ventilated front seats, which are essential for staying comfortable during the extreme summer months in the Gulf. These specific luxury features make the Platinum trim far more desirable to second-hand buyers compared to the entry-level Prestige variants.

GS350 vs Segment Rivals

The Lexus GS350 leads rivals like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class in long-term reliability and lower depreciation rates within the GCC market. Its naturally aspirated V6 avoids the complexities of European turbocharged engines, making it much more resilient to the intense heat and stop-start traffic of Dubai and Riyadh. Additionally, the GS offers a generous 450-liter boot space, providing more practical room for family road trips between Emirates than many of its competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.5L V6 averages around 10.5 L/100km, which is efficient for a large sedan during long highway runs between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and with the most extensive authorized service network in the GCC through distributors like Al-Futtaim, parts are always readily available and competitively priced. As an American spec, buyers should note it lacks the oversized radiator found in GCC specs, though Lexus cooling systems remain among the most robust in the world for handling high ambient temperatures.

Performance & Capability

The GS350 delivers a sharp 311 hp, allowing for a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 5.9 seconds, ensuring effortless overtaking on fast-moving UAE motorways. The six-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, providing a composed ride even at its top speed of 230 km/h. While this model is Front Wheel Drive, it maintains excellent stability and grip, making it a comfortable and predictable choice for both city driving and cross-border highway trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a sanctuary of Japanese craftsmanship, featuring premium leather seating for five and a powerful air conditioning system designed to cool the cabin rapidly after being parked in the sun. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents, while the front occupants enjoy multi-way power-adjustable seats with integrated ventilation. The acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from road noise, providing a quiet environment for the Mark Levinson audio system to shine.

Safety

This Platinum trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including 10 standard airbags and Blind Spot Monitoring, which is vital for navigating multi-lane highway traffic. It also features a Rear-View Camera and Parking Sensors to make maneuvering in tight urban spaces easier. The vehicle’s stability and traction control systems are specifically tuned to handle the occasional sand or gravel found on regional roads, ensuring consistent safety year-round.

The bottom line

This Lexus GS350 Platinum is the ideal choice for a savvy buyer who wants executive luxury and modern tech without the reliability risks of European sedans. It represents a high-spec opportunity in a market-preferred color, ready for many more years of comfortable GCC motoring.
