Summary

This GCC-spec Toyota Hiace GL represents a dependable choice for business or logistical operations in the region. With 135,000 km over 10 years, its mileage is significantly lower than the GCC average for commercial vehicles, which often exceeds 250,000 km in the same timeframe. The classic white exterior is the highest-demand color for resale in the UAE market, ensuring strong liquidity when it comes time to upgrade. As a GL trim, it offers enhanced cabin features over the base panel van, making it a more comfortable workspace for long shifts. Its reputation for bulletproof reliability makes it the preferred workhorse across all seven Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2016 Hiaces

While many 10-year-old commercial vans in the UAE have been pushed through grueling 24-hour shift cycles, this unit's mileage of 135,000 km suggests much lighter duty. This is approximately half the expected distance for a vehicle in this segment, indicating significantly less wear on the manual gearbox and suspension components. The white paint remains the gold standard for GCC resale, effectively reflecting heat and maintaining its appearance better than darker alternatives.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim elevates the Hiace from a basic shell to a more professional environment by adding key convenience features. Unlike the standard DX or base trims, the GL often includes power windows, central locking, and an upgraded audio system with CD and MP3 support. These small additions significantly improve the daily experience for drivers navigating long highway stretches between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

The Hiace leads rivals like the Nissan Urvan and Hyundai Staria in long-term durability and parts availability. Its 2.7L engine is renowned for handling the extreme 50°C summer heat of the Gulf without the complexity or cooling sensitivities found in some European competitors. Furthermore, the sheer volume of these vehicles on UAE roads ensures that any mechanic from Al Quoz to Mussafah can perform repairs instantly.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L petrol engine averages between 10.2L and 12.3L/100km, depending on the payload and city traffic conditions. Maintenance is exceptionally affordable, with major service centers located throughout the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The Hiace maintains the highest resale value in its class, typically retaining 60-65% of its value after three years, whereas competitors often depreciate much faster.

Performance & Capability

The 149 hp 2.7L engine is paired with a robust 5-speed manual transmission, offering direct control that is vital when hauling heavy loads. It boasts a verified maximum payload of 1,185 kg, making it capable of handling substantial equipment or cargo deliveries. The rear-wheel-drive configuration ensures better traction and stability when the van is fully loaded, especially on the inclined ramps common in industrial zones.

Comfort & Cabin

The 3-seater cabin is designed for functionality and durability, utilizing hard-wearing materials that withstand the dust and heat of the region. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the GCC, providing rapid cooling even after the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight. With a 5-door layout, accessing the cargo area is convenient from either side, which is a major advantage in tight urban loading bays.

Safety

Standard safety features on this GL trim include an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and dual front airbags for the driver and passenger. The reinforced body structure is engineered to protect the occupants in the event of a collision, while the hydraulic power steering provides consistent feedback during emergency maneuvers. These essential systems provide peace of mind for fleet managers and owner-operators alike.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a low-mileage, GCC-spec Hiace GL that has avoided the heavy abuse typical of the commercial sector. It is the ideal purchase for a business looking for a reliable, high-resale asset that is ready for immediate deployment.
